GM Fires 1,200 Software Workers

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

General Motors is following in the footsteps of VW with the laying off of 1200 software workers.

In this video I discuss how these legacy comapnies are not adapting to the changing times. Mary Barra claimed that GM would do $100B in 2030 in software. This is going to likely delay that outcome.

I feel sorry for these bread winners as their families must be hurting.

I have read somewhere that to save money, companies are laying off software engineers and programmers during slow times; when there isn't a big need for their services. They will then hire some back again during crunch time. I wouldn't be surprised if they outsource some of the work in the future.

By the time these manufacturers go to hire them back, it will be too late. Heck it is already that way for many applications.

Dear, in Venezuela GM cars were the cars I used to buy on credit, even when I was earning my modest salary as an educator, for me they were the best cars on the market. How things have changed. Thank you for your information, which is very valuable.

GM rested on their laurels.

They were the largest car company in the world at one time. Now they are like number 7.

GM has had a bigger drop, being number 7, being one of the best in the 80's when I bought my Impala car manufactured by that company. Greetings from Venezuela my friend @taskmaster4450le you always offer us genuine information.
