OpenAI ChatGPT 4o - AI Personal Assistants On The Way

OpenAI has sent shockwaves throughout the AI world. A video release is causing a stir, with a number of YouTube videos showing up from those commenting on what they saw.

We are looking at the beginning of the next stage of the AI evolution. We knew this was coming, just didn't know when.

Here is another huge leap towards personal AI assistants.

Before getting into some of the details, here is the video that was dropped. If you have not seen it, this is a worthy watch. It will update you as to what is going to be available.

ChatGPT 4o - Humanlike Qualities

What we are seeing is amazing. The versatility of this along with the ability to engage in different manners is truly innovative. Here is where we are going to see a mountain of progress built upon this.

When things start to take on humanlike qualities, such as the ability to infer emotional states, this can be productive when built into many agents. The likely result of this is more "human" applications to handle a variety of tasks.

For example, consider call centers. People call for a number of reasons. Those working have to provide information, reassure the caller, and deal with different emotional states. Some are upset about the service, others frustrated, and a few confused.

Having the ability to respond in the appropriate "emotional" manner is crucial.

Of course, the fact that it can interact in real time, using native language is monumental. This is presuming this was not a show and what was on the video is real (we will side with it being real).

The benefit is we are going to see this available to anyone. That means we are seeing free AI tools that are open to the masses.

Convergence

One interesting aspect is the awareness of space. The fact that it could read from a piece of paper or "see" the environment to interact with the dog opens up another possibility.

This alone is major advancement for robotics. We will see how they interact together as companies integrate this into its humanoid robots.

Artificial intelligence is going to remain limited until it acquires spatial capabilities. Robotics offers this possibility.

Convergence is one of the most powerful forces in technology. When different ones converge, we get the iPhone moment. Things move very quickly.

OpenAI had a huge breakthrough. However, I am going to surmise this is not the last we see of something like this. Do not be surprised if many others do not roll out something similar in the next few months.

Personalize AI Assistant

This is something that I wrote about in the past.

What will it be like to have your own personal assistant? Think about that for a moment. Consider the idea of having someone who is completely beholden to you and does whatever is required. This person will set appointments, pay bills, remind you of meetings, do you grocery shopping, and whatever other tasks you need.

That is something the wealthy have long had. For example, successful business executives all have assistants. These people are responsible for handling different issues on behalf of the executive.

If we move this into the personal realm, we can see how this can also be of benefit. It is also something that we can see in the future.

We are on the way where everyone will have a personal AI assistant. This means that a variety of things that now require focus will be handled automatically.

Another Aside

There is an ongoing discussion about search. It was reported that OpenAI was going to announce something that could destroy Google's search business.

Did we just see it?

Considering that it appears we can simply ask ChatGPT 4o any question and it will respond in real time means search is completely changing. This appears to be Alexa or Siri on steroids.

Imagine having an assistant who has the answer to any question you might have. And to think, you don't even have to get married to realize that outcome.

The future is unfolding before our eyes.

When it is released, we will have to see what agents get built. I would presume will take the initiative and do it.

Industries are being disrupted with AI development. What stood out for me on the video is the real time translation part. If GPT-4o becomes free for everyone, then it will establish a new standard for all other free AI chatbots. Exciting times ahead!

Yeah. That was a move that surprised me although it shouldnt. It is smart to open up what is being generated to as many people as possible. This can stimulate the network effort among users.

I was blown away when I saw the different videos and demos of the interactions. Initially it looked like a more advanced Alexa or Siri. But its speed and ability to converse on what's being shown live is leaps ahead. If anything, I even saw a lot of funny comments where people don't want to die anytime soon. The idea of AI and robotics is too cool for them, and want to experience it.

It does appear that way. We will see what happens when people start using them in the wild. I am not sure when it will be available to everyone.

Certainly a huge step forward. Very interesting how things are unfolding.

I am a believer in that we will all have personal AI assistants at some point. I just hope we have some that are open source.
