CBDC: The Hunt For Taxes
We are embarking upon a time when the governments of the world are pushing for a CBDC. This is done for a variety of reasons.
The fiscal mismanagement by politicians all over the world, but in Europe in particular, is starting to rear its head. We see the situation where the ECB cannot sell its debt outside the EU since banks around the world know it is toxic.
Of course, this is ending up on the balance sheets of European banks which means they are in rough shape. This is being compounded by the fact that we had 7 or 8 years of negative interest rates which ended up crushing the pension funds.
In short, default is on tap.
The push towards digital money they control is done with the idea they can tax people for whatever they need. As long as the machine is fed, the politicians will keep spending money and buying votes.
Unfortunately, the end of Marxism is on its way. Global grow rates are absymal, which is something we saw throughout history.
More Taxes
Politicians love taxes. Many feel that the move to a digital currency is being done in an effort to get away from cash. This is not entirely off base.
Cash is an enemy for governments because people are able to pay others without taxes being withheld. The idea that a babysitter is getting paid in cash drives those people nuts. They want every cent they can find.
The problem is, no matter much they get, they feel entitled to more.
This is something that runs through governments all over the world, with every party. We have career politicians who know nothing other than feeding the national capital. People like Joe Biden, Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi spent degades amassing more political capital, i.e. power. To believe they are interested in the people who vote for them is foolishness.
It all comes down to enhancing their power center at the expense of the rest of us.
CBDC is just another iteration they are going to bestow upon us.
The Great Reset
I will likely be coveing this in upcoming articles but this is all part of the Great Reset.
When we look at this, on the surface, it seems ground in sensibility. There are technological trends which do make some of what is discussed appear to benefit humanity. Of course, it is actually all within their thirst to control everything.
CBDC fit this to a tee. Not only can they control what money is being spent on along with when it has to be used, they can instantly collect taxes on each transaction as they occur. This ensures the government gets paid first.
Remember, these people are arrogant. The list of people who believe they can alter the business cycle is long and legandary. We have gold bugs, Bitcoin maxis, economists, central bankers, and politicians all who think this can be altered. This is mirrored by the academics like Klaus Schwab who believes he can control world economic affairs.
They believe that CBDCs will give them all the money they feel entitiled to. What these people do not take into account is the fact that people develop systems around what is put in place. Black markets have always existed and only grow at times of expanded government control. As the government kills the growth rate of economies, black markets form.
CBDCs are all about taxes and control. They feel they will end bank runs, remove the black market for drugs and prostitution, and make sure all pay their fair share.
The private sector always has a response. In this era, it might be cryptocurrency that ends up destroying their plans.

You are right about saying that politicians love taxes. It is the truth. I was surprised when a friend told me that the government of their coubtry always collect a tax on gambling winnings of an individual
It was only a couple of months ago that both you and I were talking about how CBDCs are definitely not going to happen anytime soon. Seems like the agenda has been ramped up a bit... but could still take years to play out.
Personally I'm highly skeptical that anything the government comes up with is going to somehow have a better user interface than what we are using right now. This idea that there can somehow be a seamless transition to CBDCs still feels wildly optimistic from a government perspective. Boomers and Gen X will not take kindly.

I see it more like another tool for them another way to try to control more people but I dont think fiat will go away, Im sure they dont want a fully centralize currency where someone knows how much each of the politicians have, they will start their own black markets, greed and power will be their burden too, and at the end what is money if not what people decide to use to trade and put value into, we still have crypto even if they come with their CBDC, I already have one of my clients pay me in crypto next month
It's definitely all about control and I think it's something that will take a long time to play out. The disruption isn't that large and the big businesses are trying to take advantage of the transition to make their own place without everyone going to crypto.

With CBDCs, governments will be able to have more control and power over our finances and anything that goes against the establishment will be a nip in the bud. It's great that we have options and a tool to resist that oppression.
I know that the private sector will always run circles around those in government and they know it too. They just hope that they can catch enough people in their poisonous web to have an effect. I just pray that CBDC is a long way off because it is truly an abomination on humanity as a whole.

Until now, black markets had the advantage of operating with no surveillance or minimal surveillance. What I don't understand is how black markets can operate in a world where every transaction is recorded. Physical media will be needed, anything from postage stamps to cigarettes to batteries to foodstuffs.
Also needed will be ways to divorce CBDC transactions from black market transactions. This means doing away with the on-ramp/off-ramp. In database management terms, we need to either lose the primary key or render it useless for database queries. This is where I get stuck.
