Times Are Changing For Hive: We Are Going To See An Entirely New Direction
With the introduction of Threads, we are going to see the first step in a new form of content creation on Hive. This is something that is going to appeal to more people as compared to long for content creation. Plus, with the mixture of stuff that is posted to Hive, this will help clean up the long form sections.
In this video I discuss how we could see the amount of transactions, which social media activity is, increase significantly over the next few months. This is really going to take off quick if the development is there.

this is a massive transformation on the hive blockchain and I can't wait to get started. thanks for sharing this video @taskmaster4450
A lot of cool stuff coming. We have a few applications that will turn Hive into a strong social media hub.

Leo finance are doing an amazing job, if they can get this to work as you have said it will change the way hive looks, it wouldn't just be blogging as usually.
I did some testing of it and it is truly a major difference. Just like Twitter albeit with fewer features.
But the idea is have a thought, share it in 244 characters or less.

244 characters is an interesting number. As I currently know, this is the maximum path length for Win32 applications.
Of course you can write a few sentences in 244 characters. Probably it will be enough for short posts. But it depends. Will the image links count to this limit?
From what I understand, it was being worked so they do not.

This is a really huge update!
Having this thread form and making it an app will be a great paradigm shift from the centralized and no-freedom site like twitter, to a decentralized world where you can earn also.
In the same way, like you said, it'll bring buying pressure on Hive because of the need to transact more on the chain (more Resource Credit needed).
Wow!
Also true!
Hive will present itself as a model for Web 3, and grant others the opportunity to build on it. 💯
This is a really informative and interesting video @taskmaster4450
I have a set of questions:
You said the thread won't be tied to [my] blog or posts section, rather it will be tied to my comment section. My question is, how then can the threads be differentiated in terms of contents/niche?
If the comments won't be tied to posts or blog where will they be tied to?
Will they be tied to different communities?
Will there be room for tags?
If there will be, doesn't it take it back to posting in communities?
The threads are tied to your individual account so you can read them in your comment section.
No they arent tied to communities or anything like that. It is a tag-based system just like twitter. There is a trending section which shows the tops "threaded" topics.
So simply click on that and you see all the threads tied to that hashtag. Then you can simply add or comment on what is there.

I'm getting a better grasp of it now.
It's so cool
Thank you for the clarification
I can't wait for it to go LIVE
It'd be great to separate out the long vs short form - be interesting to see how this works. I know it's been something we've all been talking about for a while.
Different part of the website. Click on the threads tab and away you go.
All activity shows up in your comments, not your blog post section.

Yes, thats what I always imagined.
Where can I find more information about project blank? You mention that a lot but I do not know much about it. I don’t follow the Leo team as much as I probably should.
There is not a lot of information about it available... we mostly know that it will be something akin to twitter but on the blockchain

Twitter on the blockchain is the way to think about it.
Simply follow the AMAs they have each week. Khal talks about it a lot.
Threads, which is being released on Thursday is the first step.

Ohhh. I didn't realize project blank and threads were the same thing. Thanks
Threads is a testnet if you will.
It is the first iteration, to test out the infrastructure since they have to write to Hive in a different way.
If it is successful, then it will evolve from there.

Nice point of view, I surelly count on it from now on. It was an useful information to me, thanks for the video.
I'm really looking forward to trying it out! I think it is going to change things quite a bit around here
Hopefully the launch goes smoothly

We have been trying to break it and put the devs to work on fixing some things. So far, a MVP so not a lot of fancy stuff. But it does seem to work.

As time goes by, new technologies will be added to #Hive and with this we will continue the development to reach many more people worldwide.
It looks like a similar clone of Twitter and it's nice to know that it's being tested properly. The text limit seems to be the same and I think it should also reduce the number of people complaining about short posts.

Or at least is someone does one in the long form section, they can be told where to go.

And we hope that the new path of hive gives us many significant accomplishments that will set us apart from other blockchain technologies. Thank you very much, sir.
It does open the door to possibilities. We are seeing a great deal of development taking place.
For this reason, we can say Web 3.0 is forming on Hive.

Can't wait for threads to drop. When you look at everything and zoom out it is crazy how every single project built on Hive and Leo brings more and more utility to the tokens.
This is going to be huge but as you said, we will need a standalone app before we can get the ball rolling. And if "connect with gmail/facebook" can somehow be put on top of all that, we have a winner.

Very good point made close to the conclusion, drop the data on the chain, let the users and investors spin up frontends. If it's easy to fork and sticks to LEO as the main Token, it's a Win-Win.
Summary:
In this video, the speaker discusses how the platform HIVE is evolving with the introduction of Threads, a new desktop-based microblogging feature similar to Twitter. Threads is designed to test the technology and potentially lay the foundation for a decentralized Twitter-like application built on the HIVE blockchain. The speaker highlights that this new feature will bring a significant change to HIVE, transitioning it from primarily a blogging platform to a multi-dimensional platform where users can engage in microblogging on various topics. The potential impact of Threads on driving traffic to HIVE and positioning it within the Web 3.0 ecosystem is also discussed.
Detailed Analysis:
The speaker begins by introducing Threads, emphasizing that it will be a game-changer for HIVE and is expected to attract more users to the platform. The first wave of change is set to happen with the introduction of Threads, providing a desktop-based microblogging feature similar to Twitter.
Threads is described as a new design that aims to test the technology. Although it is in its MVP stage, allowing users to share thoughts in 244 characters or less, the speaker believes that it will be well-received by the HIVE community.
The decentralized nature of HIVE is highlighted, pointing out that data on the platform is recorded on the blockchain, ensuring that users cannot have their accounts closed down, unlike centralized platforms like Twitter.
The potential of Threads to attract more activity on HIVE is discussed. The speaker contrasts the current focus on long-form content with the introduction of microblogging through Threads, suggesting that it could significantly increase user engagement on the platform.
Moreover, the speaker mentions the general purpose of Threads, indicating that users can post content on various topics beyond cryptocurrency and finance, such as food, memes, quotes, etc. This versatility is seen as a key feature that could broaden the appeal of HIVE to a wider audience.
The speaker also speculates on the future impact of Threads, suggesting that once it evolves into its standalone application, it could potentially drive hundreds of thousands of users to the platform, especially from existing social media channels like Twitter where user dissatisfaction is prevalent.
Furthermore, the speaker discusses the potential implications of Threads on driving the demand for resource credits on HIVE, leading to buying pressure on HIVE tokens and potentially attracting investors to the platform.
The video concludes with the speaker expressing excitement about the developments on HIVE and highlighting the platform's central role in the Web 3.0 ecosystem. The speaker also mentions the possibility of multiple microblogging front ends similar to the existing blogging front ends on HIVE, showcasing the platform's potential for growth and innovation in the decentralized social media space.
In summary, the video provides a detailed exploration of Threads, highlighting its potential to transform HIVE into a comprehensive multi-content platform and position it as a key player in the Web 3.0 landscape.
