Apple Banning Twitter?
The situation with Elon Musk is getting very interesting. Apple is reportedly discussing banning Twitter from the app store. Musk replied that if that happened, he would create his own phone.
In this video I discuss how we are still heavily involved in centralization and how companies like Apple remind us how much control they really have.

Quite entertaining.
True. If nothing else, it is something to watch.

Muskphone? Elonphone? Something else? Either way, why he have not done it already?
I dont know, maybe he was busy.
He hasnt built a lithium refining factory yet although they did file the plans for it in Texas.

Firing half of the Twitter's employees. Haha. :-D
We will see where this will lead. Maybe he did the right thing.
Bah! Elon Musk already has his own Tesla model 兀 smartphone with built-in Starlink Wifi and everything.
Click bait stuff. There is no such phone. For the last year, a number of videos popped up promoting that idea yet nobody can source any evidence cited in these videos.

That would have to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen if that really happens. I could just imagine the amount of lawsuits against apple (again)
Yeah but they are beating them or dragging them out.
Apple doesnt care.

It's quite the interesting development what is occuring on Twitter and I wonder what the likely outcome will be moving forward and if there will be more companies leaving Twitter.
Hard to tell what happens.
I think it all comes down to the users. If Musk is growing the platform ie no of users, the companies will want a part of that.

yeah that's true, Twitter is quite a large platform to market to people so not being active on it is missing the opportunity to make a global brand.
Twisla phone? Good to have more competitions.
elon is all over the place, and does decent amount of things i don't agree with, but he is doing a good job at point out some problems, like the google apple store monopoly (duopoly?) in the mobile industry.
He does appear to be OCD at times but then he has many projects that appear to be moving forward.
Imagine if Tesla had a record 4th quarter while he is messing around with Twitter.

We just need to build around it but I just wonder how he plans to compete. It just looks like there is too many things he wants to develop and not enough time/money to do so. Isn't there a ton of copyright/legal issues with phones? I guess he could try to buy out an existing phone company to take over those IP.

Apple is a big entity to build around. It can be done but we will have to see what happens. Google and Apple are behemoths for a reason.

Yes but it's going to be a tough fight. It's not the first time this fight has been brought up and maybe it will succeed because Elon might have some unexpected help from those entities as well. I am not sure apple wants to lose part of their market share though.

He said he will do a phone with a battery lasting one week. I will totally buy that.
Elon is good about saying things just not putting a timeline on them.
He might have that, in 2035.

Do you think that if Elon creates a ‘Tesla phone’ he instantly becomes a player in the cell phone game?
Or is that just another middle finger to the establishment? lol

Instant player. Hell he can give a phone away with every car sold.
He can also charge for other phones to integrate into the car. Plus he can set up his own app store and really make life difficult for Apple but not charging devs an arm and a leg.
Imagine if he charged 5% fee as compared to Apple's 30%...I imagine a bunch of devs would focus there first even if the market was much smaller.

Summary:
In this video, the speaker discusses the possibility of Apple dropping Twitter from its platform following tweets by Elon Musk. He also touches on the concept of centralization in tech giants like Apple, Google, and Facebook, drawing parallels with centralized aspects of the cryptocurrency industry, specifically mentioning FTX. The speaker expresses optimism about the potential for decentralization with projects like Hive and emphasizes the importance of building Web3 applications that empower users to have control over their accounts without the risk of being banned or censored. The video concludes with a call to build around centralized systems and prepare for potential confrontations with tech behemoths.
Detailed Article:
The video starts with the speaker addressing the audience, focusing on the tweets by Elon Musk hinting at Apple considering removing Twitter from its platform. This move is seen as an interesting development, with implications for both companies being monitored closely. There is a mention of videos on YouTube speculating about a Tesla phone, but the speaker dismisses them as clickbait with no substantial evidence tying the product to Tesla.
The discussion then shifts to centralization, with the speaker highlighting the power that tech giants like Apple, Google, and Facebook hold, which can significantly impact individuals and businesses. Examples are provided of how changes in algorithms by Facebook can drastically affect companies' revenues. This leads to a comparison with the centralized nature of the cryptocurrency industry, with FTX being mentioned as an example, drawing parallels to infamous cases like Madoff and MF Global.
The speaker expresses enthusiasm about projects like Hive, emphasizing the potential for decentralization in building Web3 applications. The importance of having decentralized infrastructure, independent of major entities like Apple, Google, and Amazon, is stressed. Reference is made to efforts within Hive to decentralize operations, with a goal to enable block production from home servers, thereby reducing reliance on major server firms.
The video concludes with a call to action to build around centralized systems while preparing for potential clashes with tech giants like Google and Apple. There is skepticism about political leadership stepping in to address issues related to centralization and corporate power. The overall message is one of advocating for decentralization, empowering users to control their accounts without the risk of censorship or bans. The speaker asserts the importance of moving towards a decentralized future to counter the influence and control exerted by centralized tech entities.
