Hive: It Can Happen To You

For some reason, most people think it can only happen to other people.

Whatever it is within the majority, few believe that massive success is in the cards. While there are examples everywhere, the large percentage simply do not believe that is possible for them. Instead, they look at the others as lucky or gifted.

When we look at cryptocurrency, there are clear examples of average people who made enormous sums of money.

Let us take some of the early bitcoin adopters. Known for their HODLing, the ones who were "lucky" enough to get involved in 2013, 2014, or 2015 are sitting on a pile of money. If they held since that time, even a few dozen BTC is worth a fortune.

The same is true for those who got involved with ethereum in the early days. This followed a similar pattern. A couple thousand dollars in ETH at that time is now a pile of money.

Of course, so goes the thinking, this could never happen with anything on Hive. After all, look at the list of problems people post about. Do we not have selfish whales and downvote wars that destroy it for everyone?

So the thinking goes.

Naysayers Never Win

It is easy to be a critic. Anyone can look at something and notice what is wrong. That is obvious with technology.

Remembers Apple's problem with the IPhone and the antenna? How about the switching of the mapping software and the issues that caused? A lot of articles appeared why that was going to ruin the product and how Apple was making a mistake.

What about Elon Musk destroying Twitter. We were told the platform would stop working after he fired 75% of the staff. Did that happen? No.

Hive has its share of critics. Much is warranted because, like anything, this is far from perfect.

That said, it does have a lot of powerful things going for it. One of the challenges is that people want things right now. We live in a world of instant gratification. Here is the problem. Buying BTC or ETH in the early days might not have netted a huge return for a year or two. There were periods where things didn't move.

Of course, the critics were out in full force. What happened? In spite of the naysayers, both of these coins exploded.

With Ethereum, we not only see tremendous wealth generated through the base layer coin but also much of what was built on top saw similar results. There are many projects that people made bank from.

Naturally, they were just lucky.

Multiple Layers

Hive is operating on multiple layers. This is something that many often overlook.

While there is HIVE, we also have a number of projects on the second layer that can enhance the wallets of people. So far, not much has gained traction with the exception of Splinterlands. That is, however, the example that shows the potential. If it can be done once, we can repeat it.

The bear market certainly put a damper on the holdings of many. There was a time when we had a number of Splinterland-millionaires. These people had decks that were worth over $1M. That is a tidy sum regardless of where someone is.

Here is the lesson: It can happen on Hive.

Building is taking place on a consistent basis. There are project teams rolling out new features. All of this enhances not only that project, but Hive in general. Earlier there was a thread mentioning how PeakD added prompts to their front end. This is just another example of the forward progress of an application.

Monaco

Hive is still building infrastructure.

We are seeing the development of a number of smart contract platforms. This is crucial to the future of Hive. Without this, Hive is an island of limited potential.

As these roll out, we will see development shift. Project teams will suddenly have more options as compared to before. Much of what is available on the EVMs will suddenly be offered to Hive developers. The important factor is this will incorporate HIVE and HBD.

This fact can drive a lot of value. Many articles were written describing how HBD can really drive value to HIVE. Having HBD staked as collateral on each node that is conducting financial transactions is enormous. This means activity with tokens, NFTs, and other digital assets, whether tied to commerce, finance, or social media, is going to require a staking of HBD at least equal to what is being transferred.

Here we see how the layers start to pile on top of each other.

Of course, the major breakthrough might be a layer 2 token. There could be an application or game that gains a few hundred thousand users. Like Splinterlands, this created a number of millionaires.

When comparing economies, most want to be the United States or China. However, when we look at a Monaco, it is one of the wealthiest nations on a per capita basis. The number of millionaires per 1,000 people is up there.

In my view, it is likely much bigger than just a niche ecosystem. The foundation that is being put in place is done so with the intention of scaling. We are not looking at some minor points. A lot of this technology is designed to offer what is missing in the marketplace, including with the EVMs.

To me, this only expands the potential of what is being built on top. As developers have more options, their innovation also grows. It only takes a decent holding into one of these projects and, if it takes off, suddenly there is life changing money.

This is the potential of Hive. We are not there yet.

However, keep in mind, it can happen to you.

Development wise. I believe Hive is still in its infancy. Many dapps more to he developed as well as marketing campaigns to be executed. The best is yet to come. And I hope we are all there when it happens.

I agree with you. We need much more dApps and games on the Hive blockchain to have a successful platform. The blogging side is failed for the most of the people. The most people do not have time to write dozens of comments under other people's posts just to get visibility for their own posts. Actually many people do not even like to write blog posts. At least not long blog posts. And the most people do not like to read long blog posts either. Similar with videos. Many people watch a few minutes long videos, but not many watch longer videos.

I dunno about that blogging point. Personally, I like how Hive is not chock full of the TL;DR (too lazy didn't read) and TL;DW (too lazy didn't write) crowd that make other such spaces a nauseating experience for folks with more than two brain cells to rub together.

I agree. But long form content is what makes hive, Hive. I did write about the need for hive to be have its own version of reels, shorts, as well as a marketplace.
Good thing is People in Hive are extremely talented and I just feel that we are on the right track.

Agreed. We are still in a period of creating crucial infrastructure. That is something that is necessary for the next step.

Fortunately, infrastructure takes longer to build than apps. So once it is in place, things should accelerate.

Busy writing something similar that those who made riches in crypto were not unique or special, but normal people like all of us. Everyone needs to get involved and build a portfolio to help them succeed and Hive is the perfect place for that.

The majority were not special. They just happened into something that took off. Was there some luck? Perhaps.

But they were the ones who bought in and held on. It is easy to say but not always to do.

Yes I agree some was by luck but even if you remove that you still need an understanding of what to do. Timing I am sure played a big role in others success, but you can bypass all of that if you stick it out the long way.

Yeah timing is a factor but still have to take advantage of it. How many times did we each come across something that could be a major opportunity only to pass?

Pulling the trigger and getting involved is easy in hindsight' not so much at the time. The early days of BTC, for example, were far from guaranteed.

Yes but you kind of knew. I know LINK is going to do well, but it is not a priority as you cannot be invested in everything. My motto is to have a lot of a few than a few of a lot. I think we are experienced enough now to have plans in place which will serve us well going forward. A huge difference in thinking from the first year, but we all have to learn first.

My motto is to have a lot of a few than a few of a lot.

This is sound to me.

My research says the richest people didnt get there by going into millions of things. Instead, they focused upon a few baskets that they put their eggs in (or one). From there they built it up.

Indeed it is something that despite the criticism many of us are waiting for, and I know that there are many people from all over the world working to achieve it, I think it's all a matter of work, luck and faith. What you say about everyone wanting immediate results is very true and sad, because it is also like that outside Hive, but everything valuable is built on solid foundations. It is always a pleasure for me to read you, I learn and I am motivated to continue building a future, I believe that we will witness the Hive boom so longed for. Happy beginning of the week!...

Most want instant gratification but if they just stayed the course for a few years they would be FAR ahead of where they currently are. It takes a good amount of self discipline honestly which so many lack or fail to see that longer version. It's one of the changes I made myself years ago and it's benefited me greatly.

Think of 5-10 years from now and everything you should be doing on the daily. Blog, threads, building connections, helping projects where you can, inviting others to hive, powering up hive, stacking your HBD etc. After a few years of that you'll be sitting on a good amount of hive/hbd.

Stop using that business building mindset. We need the get rich quick scheme.

Funny how they expect instant riches on Hive yet will toil forever on traditional social media not making a cent.

That is why the opportunity is so powerful: most will not take advantage of it.

Great post, I see Hive doing amazing even in this "Bear Market". We will see next year how the scene goes but I believe great at least for Hive and other good projects.

It is building at least.

We will see what this provides when the bear turns bullish.

instant gratification

Funny how you mention this I wrote about this I think few days ago about instant money instant fame instantly forgettable that's how our world 🌎 works these days sadly.

Anyway what you said is true there is a lot of potential and I really wish I know how to help with the development I tried many times to learn my brain just can't accept it.

So what I do now is just market hive get people in most never stay they tried few days got frustrated even though I held their hands but still leave. But it's ok as long as I can introduce people to Hive when it does get big these people will come back I'm sure of it.

Also I'm still waiting for a hive blockchain MMORPG hehe hopefully some creative amazing dev is working on it.

Robert De Niro is credited with saying "it took me ten years to become an overnight success".

This is why there is opportunity: so few are willing to do what it takes.

Yup we need to suffer in order to get the rewards in the uncertain future not many have the mental stability to see things through.

HIVE is a great chance for us, for average people to create some extra wealth except ordinary money-making methods.

You have to be in it to win it. Anyone can be earning here every day in various ways. Of course we have issues, but personalities will clash.

You seem to mention your man crush Musk on most of your posts and podcasts. Has he noticed?

Man crush?

Nah. I make the videos on one channel about Tesla, the company that is leading the way into sustainable energy and going to be the biggest in the world.

So many cant see what is going on so it needs to be explained to them.

Hive though has been around for some time now, still needs more feathers in its cap so as to scale through the huddle of the future

Hive has tremendous advantages compared to other blockchains and I think once the infrastructure from here will gain more features like smart contracts, new projects will come into this space. We have already have a builder mindset and I believe that everyone of us thinks of how he can put his or her mark in this ecosystem. At least I am doing that...

I believe Hive will get to where it's meant to be on top. The number of dapps that have been built. I am loving Splinterlands. I agree the platform needs to be marketed more, however, in the coming years, cryptocurrency will become more popular. Hive is bound to flourish.

Hey task any tips about how to grow on hive? I don't know if it is my posts or because i don't have that much stake, but p2e posts don't seem to get much support. Any tips? Thanks and good points at your post hive is in it's beggining, but yeah the big downvotes have almost a centralized power to say what is OK and what is NOT, but it is also good in some ways to not have an abuse of the chain.
