Hive Brand: It Is Always Being Created

How much attention do you pay to your brand on Hive? Is this something that is important to you?

There are a lot of way to look at Hive. At this point, I do not believe most take it seriously. The term Web 3.0 has been beaten to a pulp, to the point where it lost its impact. Many today, roll their eyes when they hear it.

That does not mean that things are not happening. In fact, if you focus upon the developers, those who are actually building, Web3 is alive and well. Personally I see Hive as a foundation in the shift that will be taking place.

As we keep driving home, a big part of Web 3 is the combining of social media with finance. This means we have a reason to take this a lot more serious than people do.

Here we see the context where reputation is important. Another way of phrasing this is brand. When one enters the world of business, brand. Companies spend untold amounts of time and money contouring this. Of course, we recently saw how this can change quickly.

The point being is a brand is always being cultivated. What is in question is whether it is intentional or not. This holds true on Hive.

How Are You Viewed On Hive?

This is a basic concept that most should ask themselves.

Hive has monetization woven throughout the ecosystem. This offers tremendous opportunity. Even if one ignores the question above, it is being answered. People are formulating their viewpoints based upon one's actions.

Many feel this is a bit over-the-top. After all, social media is fun, a way to interact, and a useful tool. That was true in the past for the users. It was not the case for the likes of Mark Zuckerberg. To him, it was big business.

I think most would acknowledge the tokenization of the ecosystem takes things to a different level. After all, do most people care much about downvotes on YouTube? Yet, on Hive, it is a large topic of discussion.

Hence, how we are viewed on Hive is vital. At the same time, if we see this place explode, it is going to carry even more importance. Those who are viewed negatively are going to have difficulty. It is no different than a business that has a poor brand in the marketplace. When the public has a less than stellar perception of something, it tends to struggle. Think of the fall of Sears in the United States and how that company is on the brink of going under.

Is Hive social media? Absolutely. It also feeds into the financial arena, something that has enormous impact upon one's life.

Decentralized Media Platform

We are seeing the world of media shifting. This is something we covered after the Tucker Carlson situation. This was reaffirmed with Shannon Sharpe leaving his show on Fox Sports. Both of these individual are large personalities in their field. They also have option other than simply signing with another major broadcasting network.

The media world is being decentralized. Cable news is seeing rather poor numbers, showing how attention is being placed elsewhere. Elon Musk is seeking to push Twitter into the equation, hosting Spaces that normally would have been on mainstream channels.

Web 3.0 is only going to enhance this. The Internet provides the ability for anyone to be a "media personality". At the same time, technology is giving people to the tools to create rather professional productions. The barrier to entry along with the financial commitment is much lower than a few decades ago.

We now see the ability to tokenize this entire process. Consider the opportunities for those who are building their brand along with their followers. It brings things to an entirely different level.

Which brings us back to Hive. What is the brand that you have developing? Would you like to be a media star? This is a misguided question because, quite frankly, under this scenario, it might happen without intention. Someone's account can blow up with followers, creating an instant sensation.

Of course, this all harkens back to the brand presented. What is the reputation of the person? Is this a person of knowledge? Does he or she add to the platform? Are we dealing with someone who is simply an extractor?

YouTube stars initially perplexed a lot of people. How could someone become a huge sensation outside the traditional media world? Obviously, the answer is clear today, in hindsight. We know how attention can be garnered in many different areas.

Hive falls in line with this. It has the potential to be a part of the next step in content creation. After all, isn't that what the media and entertainment world is? It creates content that people consume.

Create Our Own Stars

It seems we like to ignore history.

We often discuss the idea of bringing "influencers" to Hive. This is what people want because they believe that person will bring his or her followers. Sadly, this is completely mistaken. We witnessed how it now only happens, it is completely illogical.

Think back to the earlier days of social media. Were the first YouTube stars influencers from broadcast television? Were the media stars those making waves on YouTube? No. This platform developed its own stars.

At the same time, what made them sensations? Was it the viewers coming from traditional media suddenly tuning in? Of course not. The people who were on the platform were the ones responsible.

So why are we trying to bring "stars" from the Web 3 world? All along, my view is that we have to cultivate our own stars. It is up to us to have people creating brands that allows us to tell people "you need to check this person out". There is a lot of talent on here. However, few have taken it seriously enough in my opinion.

The bottom line is everyone is developing a brand, whether he or she realizes this. Either we take control and intentionally foster it or it will be created for us. Each action we take feeds into this, furthering our place in the minds of others. It is up to each to engage in brand management, even if this only entails being conscious of one's actions.

I think of Web3 as it relates to blockchain-based social media as the democratization of content and monetization. The freedom to own and potentially earn is pretty darn awesome!

I like your ideas and I agree the Hive is a brand we need to be mindful of at all times. Look what JS did to Steemit? We have some amazing talent here on Hive and I hope that they see the success they are seeking right here on Hive.

The impact of building your brand here is absolutely important, and I do agree wholeheartedly.

However, I'd now disagree with calling Hive a social media platform, even though that is its primary function at this time. I can foresee Hive having implications beyond this realm, based on its underlying technology and transaction speed. I'm already starting to foster ideas that use Hive to bring about the future. You've also implemented the LeoGlossary realm so that it has a growing database of information available.

I do thank you for being a piece of the puzzle that inspired me to think just a little bit beyond the edge. 😊

In my opinion, the "Hive" brand is based on two essential pedestals – interesting contributions and the subsequent reactions in their entire range. However, if the majority of posts are reduced to balancing one's own physical fitness or manipulating images found on the web, then I see the stability of the foundation in danger.

Indeed on the Hive blockchain we can build a brand and reputation like nowhere else, while reaping the benefits of the web3 era which brings together social media and finance crypto tokenization. Earning crypto while doing this is like forging a small business which can expand into something more once established.

Creating our own stars is the way to go. Someone who have been in the ecosystem for long and understands it not someone we need start teaching..of course it's not easy getting started with Hive, so I also believe those influencers will find it hard kicking it here..and to add, Hive community aren't those type that follow the crowd - so the influencer will too have some long time building things here.

Similar to how traditional media only branched to YouTube and Twitter after some accounts blew up big time, the popular legacy brands of Web2 will only show up to Web3 when enough native users have popularized the platform.

It's way better to be conscious of it and build our own brand. You either tell the world who you are or the world will tell it for you. With web3 like Hive, consciously building a brand comes with good benefits like owning what you create and potentially earning from it.

This is an excellent point. Instead of spending time on recruiting people who have built a viable business on Web2 platforms, it's much better to support the people you find on Hive. People with a good thing going on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok are not going to leave that behind. They'll stay loyal to those platforms until they die. When those platforms begin to decline, and the business models that go with them, then they'll start to look elsewhere for the next big thing. Hive could be that if it develops its own rock stars in the mean time.

A decent brand differentiates itself from the competition. Unfortunately nobody responsible for the name, did any research. So therefore there is another blockchain company called Hive and it has been around for longer, causing potential confusion to new investors.

So yeah, we need to change the name. Doubt if that will happen though.

I feel for the Hive brand to be properly known to the social media world , we participants on the Hive blockchain should endeavor to create a long lasting reputation that actually preaches the actual dictates of web 3. As you said we do not need an influencer to put us on the world map , we have ourselves to build a long lasting impression of what a decentralized crypto blockchain should be.

Priority One and not just on Hive. I have been branding @fjworld on and off the net for many years.
The greatest value of Hive to me is immutability and transparency. It can sure help in dealing with difficult customers and tire kickers.

No that would be too superficial for me.
Instant sensation from an exploit of technology. All about moving traffic and getting a piece of the pie I suppose.

There are many layers to the Hive community. The technology is way beyond the imagination of most Hivers and as you mentioned, the developers are still super excited to build more. This is a gap that that needs attention. Oh, and the baggage and old thinking ways of web2 compared to what is possible. Heck, I am able to transition functionality on Hive that doesn't cost me hosting when providing the same or less on my existing server and google workspace. I digress.

Branding yourself starts with the first hello you exchange with another person, and the many that will follow will become the base for how people will perceive you.

This post reminds me of a guest seminar that I did for a class full of students that had to learn how to present themselves. While the assignment was to explain how to present themselves, I instead explained why and when branding yourself actually starts, and how huge of an impact that could have on the future of your career (or whatever path you chose).

All along, my view is that we have to cultivate our own stars.

To me, Hive has always been Web 3.0 before the term even existed. While not many seem to take it seriously enough, it is good to have people onboard who are exactly like this. Eventually, there will be more and more bright stars who understand the picture of Web 3.0 and they just start a business on top of Hive.

I got back on using LeoGlossary today as I had more time available and it wasn't so bad as all it does is add an extra 15 minutes to the post so the effort is well worth it. Having a brand is very important and why plenty on Hive forget this is very short sighted.

This is something I'm currently figuring out myself. I'm a musician and have built that brand on a lot of Web2 platforms, but I discovered Hive through Splinterlands and started creating content for that. On top of that, my interests vary wildly as I love macroeconomics and markets so now I'm checking in on Leofinance regularly. Being laser focused is the usual mantra when it comes to building a brand, but at the same time Hive seems to offer so many opportunities with a diverse set of great communities.

I think there needs to be a concerted effort to create a business network within Hive's ecosystem, in the same spirit as LinkedIn, but without the data harvesting and surveillance bs
