Drink It In

Drink It In

On another night, in other light,
maybe we would have shared a glance.
With another beat, or other feet,
perhaps there was a slim chance.

Never been much of a drinker,
But I get the attraction for sure.
Wash away memories of days gone,
Hallucinate toward those to arrive.
The repetitive act of glass to lip,
and a wince as it slides down.
Pour the next and then another,
Block the bad and dull the worst.

For another stand, or other man,
you could have just walked away.
To another girl, to other worlds,
you needn't have made me stay.

Drop at a time to fill the glass,
One swallow to empty it again.
Day and night, light and dark,
Blurring into the endless greys.
There used to be someone worthy,
A fool with a foolish heart.
He was never much of a drinker,
Now not much of much at all.

Gone another day, gone other ways,
the path has faded into the same.
Left another tear, left other cares,
All that remains is the shame.

Is that beer? Looks more like an interesting cocktail (or a beer for really fancy people) :D
I like the Sliding Doors vibe to this, the what could've been (both in the affair sense and the what if you were a drinking man sense) Some of the most fertile ground for writing, wondering what if (a good thing, too, writing about it may save you from just wasting away wondering as many do).

Anyway, a roundabout way to say, interesting choices here.

Is that beer?

I am the only Australian that doesn't drink beer. It is why I had to leave - I was forced out ;D If I remember correctly, it was a whiskey sour :)

I think so also. As I was saying to someone the other day who was talking about "what is okay to talk about" - there are no bad thoughts, just bad actions.

Ah finally, a blockchain mystery revealed :P

I agree (with your conclusion there). I think everything should be okay to talk about.

The joy of happy hour and alcohol, this almost makes me want to indulge, the rhyme and flow of the words adds happiness to an otherwise confusing and intoxicating state.🙃

Did you get a sense of happiness from this?

A fool with a foolish heart

I think this happens when we are in love with someone who does not care the relationship as much as we do.

Unrequited love, might be one of the oldest sources of poetic inspiration.

Dear my bro @tarazkp !

I always have trouble understanding your wonderful English sentences. However, you certainly seem to be a great poet!😃

There is a famous East Asian proverb that says that memories always bring pain and shame to people!

I wonder what memories are currently causing my handsome Australian friend such pain and shame!

I wonder if you can tell me the memories you want to keep hidden!😉😅

I thought he was a good writer, an economist, but I never thought he could be a poet. I guess cold and long winter nights are enough to be creative.

I am neither writer or economist perhaps, definitely not poet. But, I do like to create :)

Very nice! I could definitely fit a few of my memories into a few of those lines.

Now that's the best way to describe how drinking makes one feel. It brings peace of mind but it's only for a Little while
