Kopi Simo ☕, Sinalau Bakas 🍖 and Fruits 🍇

This is the continuous story or part 2 of my previous post.

Kopi Simo

After leaving my friend's wedding location, as per @tommyl33 recommendation, we directly stop by at his brother cafe which is located in the area of Kota Belud. @butwo and I are not familiar with Kota Belud's route to Simo Cafe (@tommyl33's brother cafe). Thanks to Google maps, we managed to locate this cafe which is situated in a rural area.

Before this, Simo Cafe did its business in a small stall under a canopy. Currently, in a different area at Kota Belud, the business has re-located on a spacious land with a small building and more space for customers to enjoy their coffee there.

Few months ago, @tommyl33 had shared a post about doing renovation on this building of Simo Cafe as well.

The prices of varieties of types coffee and other goods here are cheap. Would like to try it all but we refrain from doing it as we were quite full after having lunch at my friend's wedding just now. This gives us another reason to come to this cafe again in the future. At that time, we tried the cafe's signature Simo cold coffee.

Even though this cafe seems located in a not strategic area, quite some loyal customers are willing to come to this cafe to buy their favorite coffee. The owner is friendly with good customer services as well as the coffee tastes better (and more quality) than the expensive coffee that is served in a famous coffee shop.

We departed from the cafe to another place after finishing our cold coffee drink.

Sinalau Bakas

In the KadazanDusun language, Sinalau Bakas means smoked wild boar. My Sister had requested us to buy Sinalau Bakas meat if the stall at the road side of Tengkhilan area opens during our way back home from Kota Belud to Kota Kinabalu (our hometown).

The luck was on my Sister, the stall is open on Sunday (which most businesses are not open for business on that day). We stopped by there and bought Sinalau Bakas portions that were enough for my family and us for takeaway to enjoy for dinner at night. We bought Linopot (cooked sweet potato rice wrapped in a leaf) for dinner too.

The alluring smokes from preparing the Sinalau Bakas and the charm of a cat in hiding make the unattractive stall which is just beside a highway with many fast driving cars are able to lure many people to stop by to buy food there. The stall is also available for people to dine in and offers alcoholic drinks and Pusas (dish that is suitable to eat while drinking) such as Sinalau Bakas.

Fruits

Still in the Tengkhilan area, our next stop is visiting the fruit stalls on another roadside.

It's fruit season. Many local fruits are sold at cheap prices. I bought quite a lot of fruits such as rambutan, longan, bambangan and langsat. There's more I would like to buy, but I control myself to buy fruit with a certain budget I set and buying too many fruits that my family and I are unable to finish will lead to waste.

I saw there were new stalls in progress to be set up. I hope it is selling a different type of product than the many fruit stalls existing beside them. Maybe some local pastries and snacks in my opinion 😍.
