Well, some time ago I thought about making a list of anime movies that for me are indispensable in this world, but I didn't want to talk about the movies that everyone talks about (although eventually I'm going to have to, if they are a milestone it's for a reason), so for the same reason it took me so long to make this post, because I was thinking about movies that weren't “so well known” but still worth it.

Bueno, hace tiempo pensé en hacer una lista de películas de anime que para mí son indispensables en este mundo, pero no quería hablar de las películas de las que todo el mundo habla (aunque eventualmente voy a tener que hacerlo, si son un hito es por algo), así que por lo mismo me costó tanto hacer este post, porque estaba pensando en películas que no fueran “tan conocidas” pero que aun así valieran la pena.

Lets beging with Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop, this movie is beautiful in color and form. It is a movie that is not a big deal if you picture it right or compare it to other anime movies, but its color and direction makes the movie completely worth it. When I think of this movie and recommending it, I don't think of people who are new to the medium, for that there are specific movies that are a good eye opener for what anime culture in general is; but with this movie I think of people who have already seen a lot of anime, who need something a little different and a story that is not so great but fills their hearts on a Sunday when they are more filled with nostalgia and melancholy. WBULSP is a movie about summer love, and summer in this movie is expressed so colorfully and vividly that it's hard to think of any movie that compares to it in color and harmony, and this is truly one of those movies that makes you happy just because it exists.

Comencemos con Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop esta película es hermosa en color y forma. Es una película que no es la gran cosa si la imaginas bien o la comparas con otras películas de anime, pero su color y dirección hace que la película valga completamente la pena. Cuándo pienso en esta película y en recomendarla, no pienso en las personas que son nuevas en el medio, para eso hay películas específicas que son un buen abre boca para lo que es la cultura de anime en general; pero con esta película pienso en personas que ya han visto mucho anime, que necesitan algo un poco diferente y una historia que no sea tan grande pero que les llene el corazón un domingo cuándo están más llenos de nostalgia y melancolía. WBULSP es una película que trata de un amor de verano, y el verano en esta película se expresa tan colorido y vivo que es difícil pensar en alguna película que se le compare en color y armonía, siendo esta sinceramente una película de esas que te alegran por el simple hecho de existir.

Continue with Tokyo godfathers, it is impossible to talk about anime films without talking about Satoshi Kon. The late anime film director left such a great legacy that people still talk about how his films have inspired Hollywood movies like Inception or black swan, however, because of the same thing they always talk about the same movies most of the time; paprika and perfect Blue. Then, little is said about tokyo godfathers, which is my favorite film by Satoshi Kon, because I love films that fill you with hope and end with a powerful message, beyond the thrillers or complex plots that the director usually handles. Tokyo godfathers is a Christmas movie practically for all audiences that is about some homeless people who the day before Christmas get an abandoned baby in the street. These people set out to not let the baby die and to find her family, which will lead the trio to an adventure full of ups and downs that works perfectly to raise several issues while building a story around them.

Continuando con Tokyo godfathers, es imposible hablar de películas de anime sin hablar de Satoshi Kon. El difunto director de películas de anime dejó un legado tan grande que aún se habla de cómo sus películas han inspirado películas de Hollywood como Inception o el cisne negro, sin embargo, por lo mismo siempre se hablan de las mismas películas casi siempre; paprika y perfect Blue. Entonces, poco se habla de tokyo godfathers, que es mi película favorita de Satoshi Kon, porque me encantan las películas que te llenan de esperanza y que terminan con un mensaje potente, más allá de los thrillers o las tramas complejas que el director suele manejar. Tokyo godfathers es una película navideña prácticamente para todo público que va sobre unas personas sin casa que el día antes de navidad consiguen a una bebé abandonada en la calle. Estas personas se disponen a no dejar morir a la bebé y a encontrar a su familia, lo que llevará al trio protagonista a una aventura llena de altos y bajos que funciona a la perfección para plantear varios problemas mientras construye una historia a su alrededor.

And finishing with The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, one of studio ghibli's best films and I understand that seems like a lie because it's not the most talked about, but honestly it's one of the studio's most artistic films and if the film isn't talked about as much it's because it's full of Japanese folklore, which makes it hard to access for western audiences, but if you're already one of those people who have passed that barrier, kaguya is a film like no other and needs to be more recognized and discussed.

Y terminando con The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, una de las mejores películas del estudio ghibli y comprendo que eso parezca mentira porque no es de las que más se habla, pero sinceramente es una de las películas más artísticas del estudio y si no se habla tanto de la película es porque está llena de folklore japonés, lo que la hace de difícil acceso para la audiencia occidental, pero si ya eres una de esas personas que han pasado esa barrera, kaguya es una película como ninguna otra y necesita ser más reconocida y discutida.
