Serve The Nation

I am from Pakistan where there is no mandatory service.While i have read that in many other countries like South Korea, Singapore and many other nations have mandatory service. This mandatory service is mostly associated to military and defence system of country. In turn this service strongs the defence and military system and along with it gives a sense of civilian responsibility.

Well, i think that having mandatory service is good but it seems more like a strict rule. Also i think that to serve there are many other ways then why all these nations just have one direction military and defense. I assume it's due to notion of glorifying the military and also to evoke spirit of nationalism in the heart of all the civilians which keep them on one slogan.

Military is one of the strongest institution that upholds the nationalist ideology for any country and it looks mentally different from overall mass of the country because they are trained in that way. The way in which they have to protect their country. They have to think beyond all the divisions in the country. In short, they just have to think about country first and nothing else.

You know now i got my answer that why almost every country have just military as mandatory service. The answer is because it changes you mentally and set country as priority number one. Otherwise i was thinking that there are number of domains to serve the nation. For instance, Teaching is the best domain to serve because teachers are the builders of nation. According to situation of my own homeland ,where 26 million students are out of school and 70 percent of 10 years children don't even know how to read and write, teaching should be mandatory service. Education system is failed here. The reason behind it is actually the priorities of the government. Government is more focused on expanding defense system which is already enough. The budget for education is just one percent. Although there are thousands of teachers but those are just available to elite class and the poor labour class is just grinding itself in the lower section of the society. It's game of survival which is going on in the society and this all game is just about money.

This time 9th class result is just 44 percent which is a decreased ratio in comparison to all previous percentages. This percentage shows that students have lost their concentration in studying, teachers have lost their passion in teaching and the education has lost it's standard. It's alarming to see such steady decline in the education sector.

After seeing all these situations in my homeland, i strongly agree that country's government should focus on education and learning should be mandatory service. Free education is already there but it's time to give them quality education along with free. All the claims should not be just claims. They should be implemented. I hope you got my words and understood me.
