A walk in the Homolji mountains.....🥰

A walk in the Homolji mountains..... This time in the company of children... We came to the village of Bistrica,
.... where the first Serbian marathon runner, participant of the Olympics, Dragutin Tomašević, who won the 33km long Obrenovac-Košutnjak, taditional race, in 1911...
and thus qualified for the Olympics in Stockholm....next year. He started well, he also carried the Serbian flag.
He was among the leading competitors, when the fans of local athletes invaded the track and pushed him into the ditch.
Part of the track was not secured.. He arrived at the finish line battered, and with an injured leg....
We passed through a village that has a small museum, a reminder of the time when Dragutin competed, and again newspaper clippings about him.
There is a bottle of brandy on the table and like good hosts they offer to drink one...
I was delighted by the record player from that era...
Above this village are the Homolj mountains, and a small peak called Luke's stone, where we headed.
When we left the village, we walked a few more kilometers to a small church and a small plateau where the locals gather and have barbecues...
Along the road, there are a lot of watermills, which are arranged and maintained even though they are not working.... They just remind of the past times, how they were very important.....
We rested a bit here, freshened up... I was interested in the roof, strewn with leaves and plants that grew there...
We continued along the path further towards the top..

I love your photos of the Homolji Mountains! The scenery is beautiful, and especially interested the old watermills. It's wonderful that the locals are keeping them maintained, even though they're not in use anymore.
