La primera y única mascota de mi casa, Manchitas /The first and only pet in my house, Manchitas (SP/EN)

Como siempre, compartiré con vosotros uno de mis recuerdos. Espero que os animéis a participar de todas formas y que hoy os encontréis muy bien. Sin más preámbulos, comenzaré a contarles una historia un poco triste, pero muy hermosa a la vez.

As always, I will share with you one of my memories. I hope you will be encouraged to participate anyway and that you are feeling very well today. Without further ado, I will begin to tell you a story that is a little sad, but very beautiful at the same time.

Cuando nos mudamos a mi casa actual, yo tenía unos siete años. Siempre me han encantado los animales, pero en aquella época estaba más desesperada por tener un gran número de ellos; por razones obvias, insistí en adoptar una mascota para nuestra nueva casa. Entonces, mi tía Raisa (una hermana de mi abuela) nos encontró una perrita muy mona que había sido apartada por una antigua novia de su hijo. Recuerdo que, el día que fuimos a buscar a la perra, era una cachorrita de pocos meses; pequeña y compacta. La llamé Manchas porque, entre todo el color rubio tostado de su cuerpo, tenía las patas blancas.

When we moved into my current house, I was about seven years old. I have always loved animals, but at that time I was more desperate to have a large number of them; for obvious reasons, I insisted on adopting a pet for our new house. So, my aunt Raisa (a sister of my grandmother) found us a very cute little dog that had been put aside by a former girlfriend of her son. I remember that, the day we went to look for the dog, she was a puppy only a few months old; small and compact. I called her Manchas (Spots) because, amidst all the tan-blonde colour of her body, her paws were white.

Lamentablemente, a mi papá no le gustan mucho los animales, por lo que empezó a insistir que la dejáramos en casa de mi abuela, donde ya había dos perros (Mimosa, un terrier pequeño, y Kliford, un pastor alemán), y por un corto periodo de tiempo fue así: mantuvimos a Manchitas en la casa de mi abuela, hasta que la otra perrita, Mimosa, la empezó a espantar mucho y ella se escondía. Era algo un poco gracioso de ver, ya que Manchitas era mucho más grande que Mimosa, pero aún así le tenía cierto miedo. Por ello, mi mamá y yo nos llevamos en secreto a Manchitas a nuestra casa; la escondimos en la lavandería hasta que mi papá llegó y quedó impactado. Recuerdo que ese día, jugué muchísimo con ella y le di Platanitos, que sorprendentemente se los comió.

Unfortunately, my dad didn't like animals very much, so he started to insist that we leave her at my grandmother's house, where there were already two dogs (Mimosa, a small terrier, and Kliford, a German shepherd), and for a short time we kept Manchitas at my grandmother's house, until the other dog, Mimosa, started to scare her a lot and she would hide. It was a bit funny to see, as Manchitas was much bigger than Mimosa, but she was still a bit scared of her. So my mum and I secretly took Manchitas home; we hid her in the laundry room until my dad arrived and was shocked. I remember that day, I played a lot with her and gave her Platanitos, which she surprisingly ate.

Después de ese día, Manchitas nunca más se fue de la casa. Todos le agarramos un cariño infinito, incluso mi papá, contra todo pronóstico. Puedo decir que mi papá la quería más que nadie. Ella era muy protectora con nosotros y se molestaba muchísimo con las visitas, ya que era súper brava con los desconocidos. Aunque no era tan grande (era de tamaño mediano), era bastante fornida y fuerte. Nos protegía muchísimo, y era súper divertido jugar con ella; siempre perseguía las pelotas y nos la traía de vuelta. Además de ello, tenía una particularidad: se subía en las sillas y se sentaba como otro miembro de la familia.

After that day, Manchitas never left the house again. We all became infinitely fond of her, even my dad, against all odds. I can say that my dad loved her more than anyone else. She was very protective of us and got very annoyed with visitors, as she was very fierce with strangers. Although she wasn't that big (she was medium sized), she was quite stocky and strong. She was very protective of us, and it was great fun to play with her; she always chased the balls and brought them back to us. On top of that, she had a peculiarity: she would climb on the chairs and sit like another member of the family.

Manchas estuvo con nosotros alrededor de tres o cuatro años. Siempre tuvo una vida saludable, pero lamentablemente, de un momento a otro, la envenenaron para poder entrar a una de las casas vecinas; murió muy rápido y espero que no haya tenido sufrimiento. Mi familia lamentó muchísimo esta pérdida; hasta el momento, ha sido la única mascota de nuestra casa, ya que espantó a todos los gatos porque era muy brava y a día de hoy no ha llegado una que cubra su lugar.

Manchas was with us for about three or four years. She always had a healthy life, but unfortunately, from one moment to the next, she was poisoned to get into one of the neighbouring houses; she died very quickly and I hope she did not suffer. My family was very sorry for this loss; until now, she has been the only pet in our house, as she chased away all the cats because she was so fierce, and until today there has been none to take her place.

Le agradezco el tiempo que nos hizo felices a todos, definitivamente fue un amor y una mascota preciosa. Hoy día ando en la misión de convencer a mis padres de adoptar otra mascota, ya que la casa se siente algo solitaria sin ningún animalito. Cuando logre adoptar un perrito o un gatito, no duden en que lo compartiré con ustedes.

I thank him for the time he made us all happy, he was certainly a sweetheart and a beautiful pet. Today I am on a mission to convince my parents to adopt another pet, as the house feels a bit lonely without any animals. When I manage to adopt a puppy or a kitten, don't hesitate to share it with you.
