My school slangs: The proverbial Donkey

It's no news that donkeys are seen as one of the stupidest animals, coupled with this is their unwillingness to do what you want them to do at the time you want them to do it, put simply, donkeys are stubborn.

We all know that donkeys are mostly used for work, they are made to carry heavy loads to the point where thy can barely move at times, still they manage to get that load to its destination.

The donkey knows nothing about the loads it is carrying. In most cases, they are of no benefit to it but it still carry them anyways, it carries goods round the town, into the bushes and into the deserts.

Now there are a group of people we call "proverbial donkeys" here in school. They are students just like us, they attend lectures, but what set them apart from other students is how their behaviors can be likened to that of a donkey. They carry heavy bags packed with books but still have no use for them: meaning they don't read them.

They have more books than your average students, it is even possible for them to have two to three textbooks on the same subject but still, all they do with the books is put them in their bags and parade around the school without even knowing much about the content of these books, you see students who can't afford books but only make use of pdf files doing better than them academically. And then when you jokingly ask them to reduce the books to ease the weight on their shoulders, a weight that is completely self-imposed, you hear something like:

"no, I want to read all of them, there are concepts that are better explained in this textbook than that textbook

they don't read shit!😂😂

The covers of their textbooks, smooth as the sole of an infant's foot and as straight as a dance pole, still have the leather intact due to lack of use. The pages still reflect sunlight that sometimes you even need shades to read them, because of how new they still are, but they still say,

I want to read them, I read them everyday!

The proverbial Donkey is one who goes from one friend's room to another, with a library of a bag and some goodies, to enjoy with his friends and says,

I will study when it is dark, it would be much more quieter an calmer then...
..and by then, he's already tired and he now says,

...I will read tomorrow..

He uses his miniature library covered in ruck-sack material as a pillow. Isn't it amazing how a library could also function as a comfortable pillow? 😂😂

Infact they have alot of characteristics similar to that of donkeys: strong-headed, carry loads they don't use, and never accept an advice!
