Good afternoon everyone, today I would like to talk to you about one of the greatest rock bands that we seem to have forgotten (never mind, I'm here to remind you) and I'm talking about the band Blur.

So let's start

Blur is a band from the UK as you know, the British have a great talent for rock. Their genre is Britpop and alternative rock. They were formed in 1988 in London under the name Seymour and are made up of Damon Albarn (vocals, keyboards) who you will know as the creator of the most beloved virtual band on the planet, Gorilla, but that is another story. Other members are Graham Coxon (guitar, backing vocals), Alex James (bass) and Dave Rowntree (drums).

Blur is one of the British bands that appeared at the beginning of the fall of the British group. With a very peculiar style called Britpop but together with Oasis, Pulp and Suede, they established a well-known rivalry with Oasis during the 90s, known as the "Battle of Britpop". So far, a brief summary of how this band was born, now let's talk about what we like about their music.

Leisure (1991)

  • Their debut album is influenced by the madchester movement and shoegaze

Featured songs

  • "She's So High"

  • "There's No Other Way"

Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993)

  • Here the dark and melancholic sound characteristic of Blur begins to form, marking a change towards Britpop.

Featured songs

  • "For Tomorrow"

  • "Chemical World"

Parklife (1994)

  • The album that launched them to stardom and defines Britpop. This is when we start to hear more songs from them.

Featured songs

  • "Girls & Boys"

  • "Parklife"

  • "End of a Century"

  • "To the End"

The Great Escape (1995)

  • This album consolidated his commercial and worldwide success.

Featured songs

  • "Country House"

  • "The Universal"

  • "Charmless Man"

Blur (1997)

  • A turn towards a more raw and experimental sound, influenced by American alternative rock. And honestly, I like this sound better.

Featured songs

  • "Song 2"

  • "Beetlebum"

  • "On Your Own"

Since the album The Magic Whip, Blur are no longer the same. The members of the group do not agree on the lyrics of the songs, that is why each one continues playing but each one on their own. We will have to wait for them to come back and rise from their ashes like the phoenix.
