THAT WRONG PURCHASE

One time or two I have made purchases and then gotten mad at myself for doing so. Those happened because of poor decision making and impulsive buying.

For the most part, I never fail to think through every buy to make be sure they're of necessity. I'm not very buoyant so it's important I make good financial decisions.

Before I made this trip about three months ago, I thought it wise to purchase a few items that I would be needing. Among these were personal effects and these polo-shirts I always wanted to get but kept procrastinating for the reason of the lack of time.

That day I left home early to the particular market i knew had what I'd want, which is quite a distance from my residence. After walking on and about and getting all the other items, I went over to get the polo. I couldn't find the exact type I wanted even after combing almost every clothe shop in that market. I was shown other designs and even though they were nothing like what I wanted, I got them(and at higher price too). No one forced me to, no doubt, I was just tired and couldn't imagine coming all the way and doing all of that marathon walk to return without them.

And that was how I got four polo shirts at 5,000naira each. Once I paid and was walking away from the shop, I felt instant regret. I started to question why I was so impatient to get them when it wasn't like I had any immediate use for it.

As if that wasn't bad enough, I had only almost approached the stop were I would catch a bus heading home when I saw this boutique that had the exact same polo I had spent so long looking for. Out of curiosity i walked over to the boutique to ask how much it's sold for. That was a hige mistake on my part. You can only imagine how sour my mood got when I asked the price and was told it sold at 3,500naira. If I had gotten at that price, I would have six instead of four like I bought for. It wasn't really about the price for me though.

I felt so much anger that day, I blamed myself. Amusingly, after that day, I began to see the polo I wanted at more and more shops. Like they were all waiting for me to make the bad purchase before coming out. I wear the shirts. They're not of poor quality but I don't appreciate them enough because I don't like them as much.

Ever since, I've been careful to only get what I want. If I can't find that, I leave, unless I am convinced that I would be comfortable with a replacement. It is important to me that I like what I get else I would regret it and beat myself up for not using the money wisely.
