What to do with DAO Rebellion Packs?
Hello, everyone. I'm back for another The People's Guild challenge entry. 😅 And this new theme tries to tackle a question that's also been boggling me since the beginning, and that is what to do with the DAO Rebellion packs?
We currently have 875,182 packs sitting in the DAO treasury with an estimated dollar value of almost three million! And it's just sitting there generating no value for the fund. Another issue is that these packs would depreciate in value over time as it gets older.
So here's my straightforward suggestion for these Rebellion packs - SELL, SELL, SELL Everything!
But I'm pretty sure that would be met with opposition from some community members especially those who held their packs anticipating the end of the onsite sale.
So here's my well-crafted and totally foolproof alternate suggestion:
So basically, players would now have the option to buy either the regular 2,000 DEC wild pass or this new 3,000 DEC pass. When they purchase it, the extra dollar (1,000 DEC) will be used to purchase Rebellion packs from the DAO treasury at the original value of $4 per pack.
These exclusive pass holders would then have the ability to gain GLINT-B instead of a regular GLINT when they play in the wild format. The reason for having this new in-game token is because a new set of loot chests would be available for them in the shop.
These chests can only be purchased with GLINT-B. They are functionally the same as the other chests except their jackpot rate will be increased by 10x. This increase in drop rate is due to it containing not only Rebellion packs but there's also a chance to pull tokens and assets from other Hive projects as well like Golem Overlord, Rising Star, Immortal Creed, etc. These other assets can be purchased from the fund coming from the wild pass or we can allow other projects to donate their assets to the jackpot pool. This would also benefit them as a some sort of cross-project promotion.
What to do with the Pack Sale Fund?
Now the next question would be what should we do with the fund from the pack sale. My first suggestion would be buying more Bitcoin.
I think by now, Bitcoin has proven itself as the strongest cryptocurrency. It has a track record of having an ever-increasing value over its lifespan in the market. I think backing the DAO fund with more Bitcoin can be a hedge in the future when unexpected things occur.
Next would be revenue generating assets. First, maybe the DAO can purchase a few land plots and manage its production. Just have the lands generate resources and sell them for DEC. Longterm, land would be an invaluable part of Splinterlands and the DAO would definitely benefit from its success.
Another thing that might be a good idea is to acquire a few validator nodes. Although the revenue from them might be low for now, it can still accumulate and compound over time if we stake the SPS reward. I know validator nodes were meant to be a decentralization tool, but I think having the DAO run a couple as backup is essential too.
The DAO is an unprecedented concept in the blockchain space. And I've yet to see another project that is willing to hand over millions of dollars worth of assets to their community. Keeping this fund strong is also important for boosting confidence in holding SPS tokens.

Oh I like the idea of making the packs exclusive to Pass Holders. Though I wonder if a more traditional Battle Pass would be better suited for this sort of reward (among others). At any rate, thanks for participating Sudeon!
