Just a few hours ago, Splinterlands went into a scheduled maintenance phase. And when it went live, new features were added to the game including the previously announced voucher shop. All previously existing voucher utilities were halted and this new shop was introduced.

Mana Warden

And the first featured card is Mana Warden. This is priced at 30 vouchers per BCX and I thought it was a fair price. This is another example of a very useful common card and I know there are a ton of rule sets and game scenarios that I can use him with.

As for the card stats and abilities, Mana Warden is quite interesting. He is equipped with two new abilities. The first ability is Shield Ward which grants Shield to the monster in front of him. Second is Impede which decreases the enemy monster's speed by 1 every time a successful attack is made. This is interesting because Mana Warden is a melee monster without Reach. This means that he is designed to be paired with tank units with the Flank ability. And I can't think of a better partner for him than Ulundin Overseer.

Voucher Liquidity Pool

I saw from the announcement that there was an exploit that happened when the voucher-DEC liquidity pool went live. Apparently, over 2 million vouchers were overprinted, according to the announcement. The culprit has been identified and the bug has been fixed since. But the aftermath was still lingering as the voucher price was still very low. I decided to swap 10,000 SPS to DEC and then to vouchers in order to purchase a max copy of Mana Warden. But I accidentally swapped the vouchers right back into DEC causing me to incur around $13 loss.

That halted my plans to purchase the card and I decided to put my funds into the liquidity pool instead. The total liquidity is just around $7,600 which is pretty low compared to other LPs of Splinterlands assets. I'm sitting comfortably at 0.73% and the fees are starting to pick up. This is my first time joining an in-game pool and I hope I can at least recoup some of my losses over time.
