It's not even a week that the new soulbound reward cards are released and I'm already seeing more of the new cards being tested out by my opponents. I haven't really explored everything yet myself but I can say that there are very interesting cards I am encountering for the first time. I already did a previous post about the first two legendaries that I pulled, Endless Gibbon and Warborn Chieftain. So I tried browsing through the other Rebellion legendaries and this one card stood out to me, in terms of artwork, at least.

I've got a few pet peeves with the design concept for Chaos Battle Mage. First off is the name. In most fantasy games, it's customary for the legendary creatures to be unique characters. At least in the lore, her name is Zephyria Valtorian. But her card name is simply Chaos Battle Mage, which doesn't sit well with me. Another thing is her attack. Her artwork screams magic user. But instead, she is a ranged unit. I guess this is due to her throwing cards as projectiles. But other than those two complaints I have, I think Chaos Battle Mage is a solid neutral monster.


Although her ranged attack is not that high, it is an advantage that she has piercing. I guess my main role for her in lineups is to be a backline meatshield to protect from sneak attackers. She is extra tanky for a ranged monster due to her high health and the armor that can absorb at least one enemy attack. She also has divine shield. But if the enemies manage to further pierce through her layers of defenses, they will be met with a surprise redemption activation. Her rebirth will trigger a second redemption activation, further damaging the enemy monsters.

Because Chaos Battle Mage is neutral, it is very versatile and can be included in many different battle scenarios. But I would personally try to spam her redemption triggers more than twice by including additional resurrect monsters like River Hellondale and Adelade Brightwing. Maybe I can even utilize her as a frontline tank. I can't wait to get my copies to try it out.
