Geeky Gecko has eye on you! || Hive Power Up Day!

About the Drawing

While working on an illustration for my article on 'Entropy' - I expanded one of my boards on Pinterest - with many more photos of eyes. So far I have only collected photos of human eyes, especially macro photos are among my favourites.

While pinning more pictures, I came across pictures of gecko eyes. I knew that reptiles have beautiful eyes, but I was struck by the diversity of their eyes! And so I spent over two hours browsing and searching for the best quality macro shots of gecko eyes. So today the eye of the gecko for a change:)

I'm continuing my adventure with working on black paper, but I'm trying to expand my skill range a bit and play with some colour too.

Let me know in the comments what you think:)

Do I have a plan?

Planning stresses me out, and at the same time I know that if I don't plan something - unforeseen circumstances will stress me out even more. So I plan out of fear of surprises:) I plan my #HivePud 's too, but it's not as stressful as the grey everyday life:)

gold gradient pojedyncze pioro.png

My #hive adventure started on 13 February this year, so I can still call myself a 'newbie', but I think I've learnt quite a lot during this time. In the beginning I power up every residual hive to increase my voting power. Nevertheless - voting with 0.000 depressed me quite a bit. The low RC was also a problem.

gold gradient pojedyncze pioro.png

At the very beginning there was no interest in my posts at all, and I admit that my great enthusiasm slowly gave way to great disappointment. Then I decided to take a risk and write a very personal post. Basically - it was a couple of pages from my diary. I also added a drawing that I hadn't shown to anyone before. Something clicked. The first curator appeared.

Thank you!

Soon after, @wrestlindeires invited me to #DreemPort:)

I was very lucky to come across a tribe that welcomed me with open arms.
I wanted to say a big thank you to #Dreemsteem, entire #DreemPort team and all #Dreemers!

I want to especially mention @samsmith1971 for delegating RC when I had so little of it that even if I wanted to post more often to grow my account - it was impossible for me. And for comments that leave me speechless for long minutes.

Thank you @shadowpub and @thekittygirl for #PYPT!

gold gradient pojedyncze pioro.png

I also want to take this opportunity to thank the fantastic musician @albuslucimus for delegating RC to me, which allows me to still have a tiny - but already real - impact on the platform:)

Thank you @holoz0r and @nineclaws for stimulating and inspiring conversations!

Thank you Dears, to all and each and every one of you!

#HPUD

This is my fourth #HivePUD month:) In April, I managed to collect my first 10 hive to get a 1 level bee, in May a bit more, but still not even 2nd level.
In June I managed to collect 50h for a 2nd level power up. I'll top up 50 this month too, but the target for next month is level 3 - 100H.

Keep your fingers crossed for me:)

podwojne pioro zlote gradient.png

Have a lovely #HivePud!
Yours,
Strega Azure

ooh this is a nice exploration and change for you! The detail in that gecko eye is incredible! Even the way in which you photograph your artworks is creative hehe.

I love geckos... except when they drop from the ceiling, after scurrying too quickly, and fall on your head at 2 am 😂That doesn't happen here in the UK!!! But it was a not so irregular occurrence growing up in South Africa !LOLZ

And I was only too happy to support you, Strega. Still am!!! You are an incredible talent and a beautiful human being 💗 !LUV !LADY

I was shooting pictures late at night, and it was really hard to get good pictures. Plus black paper is not that great to photograph in general. I am lowering ISO so it looks as close to original picture as possible, but it is still not that great 😁

That's sound jak some great story to be fair, but cannot imagine myself in this situation. How big there would be?

It means more than you know, I don't think I ever actually thank you for this:)
And for everything else too!

¡Muchas gracias!

Black background is still very much new medium for me, but I am getting more and conformable with it:)

Thank you for visiting my blog:)

It's a pleasure to support you and absorb your work.

Hopefully I was one of those curators, even with my meagre stake :)

I have journals and my work note-taking surfaces covered in biro and pen sketches of eyes. I love drawing them. Have you seen the film "I Origins (IMDB link)" It is an incredible story of a science man making some discoveries while going an a mixture of a journey that swings from triumph to tragedy. It is science fiction, drama, and makes you also recoil in horror at some points.

One of my favourite films, and it is all about the "eyes".

You are!

That's sound very interesting, let's explore that! Why eyes? Human eyes? Animal eyes? Sea creatures eyes? Pure fictional eyes?

I Origins

I did not, but now it is on my list. I need fuel for my drawings:)

They're easy to draw. I don't often make eye contact with people when I speak with them, I look at the top of their head / hair, or their mouth, because I am not so confident in fact to face scenarios. I am much more happy socialising with someone else if I'm "looking at" something with them, like an artwork, a tv, or into the distance; its why I tend to "Sit next to" my wife rather than across from her, when the "dining for two" experience is usually sitting across from one another.

Now you can leave my psyche, pls :)

That's interesting! You should have your 'eyes' on you at all times, maybe they will help with shyness:)

I hear you :)
I don't like sitting in pub and chatting, it gives me such amount anxiety, that I need like week to recover from that sort of 'parties'.

You feel out of sorts because sitting across from each other is by it's nature - confrontational. Like an interview or interrogation. Isn't really romantic I would say. We rarely go with my Boyfriend to restaurant, but if we do, we always ask for slightly bigger table so we can sit side by side:)
Keeps our fears in check.

I'm glad we both make sense in that regard - I guess sitting across from each other also allows you to assess for threats from both directions, from a survival standpoint :P But that is not really the goal when trying to enjoy a meal; though I fear there will be less and less of that with the price of everything spiralling toward wherever the Voyager spacecraft has gotten off to.

I can not cope with the background noise of a shopping centre for very long. Same thing when I photograph weddings. The cacophony of voices and had surfaces echoing around everywhere makes me want to go somewhere with more coherent, melodic sounds. Even a busy road with lots of cars driving by is better.

Agree in full here.

I would just add that my head gives my enough noise to deal with :)

It make things even worse sometimes too.

Although I use earplugs quite often(usually when I have migraine), but if your earplugs are very good(especially wax ones) - you can actually hear beating of your heart, your intestines working away. So disturbing. And very surreal.

I hate the sound of my own heart. It make me remember I'm human, fragile, and so close to death at any given moment. :D

It's wonderful to engage with you, a lovely flow back and forth that's throughly enjoyable.

The eyes have it. Haha, fascinating aren't they? I've never looked at a geko's eyes closely. Love the blues and oranges. The eye itself has this cool patterning. I'm thinking how difficult it is to see that clearly to draw it.

You're drawing eyes and I'm growing for photo ops in clear containers out of lettuce, argula, and meat I wouldn't eat. Something about eyes is so eyeppealling.

Eyes!!

I simply forgot for a while how fond of them I am :) I sense another series of drawings :D
But geckos eyes are just crazy! Love those colours, and a pupil that looks as if it has been multiplied or something. Just amazing!

eyeppealling

and scary, and unsettling.

I hope you do more gecko ones. It'll be interesting where you take this eye adventure.

There will be more eyes that's for sure. Reptiles - definitely too. ATM I am in love of lama's and goats eyes, they are so alien like!

Only if you let it be. 😉

I am myself - I would always choose disturbing over nice. At any time:)

Gecko eyes are indeed really strange, macro pictures reveal details that we are unable to see with the naked eye:)

Never knew your journey on hive started few months back, sincerely speaking, you have made a lot of progress so far.

Well, I have never been a fan of geckos, they seem creepy but with this your breath taking drawing, their eyes surely look amazing indeed.

Thanks for sharing.

I love geckos, they have this expression on their faces that nearly look like a smile:) And there are sooo sooo many colours and patterns of those creatures skin too. From while, pale blue to leopard spots.

But the eyes... I just find them fascinating:)

Oooooh, I really like this one! VERY COOL!
I found this post via #pypt, when a wonderful young lady named @strega.azure dropped it, pimpin' her heart out!

Remind me never to send you some of my home made Dill pickles. OR, my bread and butter sweet pickles. I don't like the dill pickles, but my girls do. I love my Bread and Butter sweet PICKLES, AND NO ONE GETS THOSE.

I did! I think this one haven't been recorded too, so no evidence of my shaky voice :D

No problem at all, I can do some 'hazard stickers' for you too, so other can beware of dill-danger!

I love pickles!!! And sauerkraut too:) Very polish tastes:))

My Mum would always do few jars with no dill for me, for what I am extremely grateful :))

#dill-haters

Let's check with my fello dill-hater @holoz0r. Where you stand with pickles? Did I ever asked you that???

I hate pickles.

0
0
0.000
avatar

That is such boring and devoid of any factual basis statement.

What is it? Texture? Colour? Fact that they are just laying there in the jar for a months?

0
0
0.000
avatar

Texture. The fact that it ruins the delectable crunch of a cucumber. The entire industry of men opening jars of pickles for women (at least in my hyper-local pantry district) is the purest form of punishment a man can endure. That, and they stink righteously.

0

avatar

Sounds sensible. The oppression of men in the form of an impossible-to-open jar seems like a good reason to hate.

I don't eat pickles or sauerkraut for their taste, I eat them because fermented food enriches the bacterial flora of the digestive system. If you have a million allergies or other ailments, this is an easy solution to many problems:)

Not to mention the fact that they have group B vitamins, a lot of vitamin C, but also E and A, which are quite difficult to find in food at all:)

0
0
0.000
avatar

You know what else has lots of B? And C? And probably the others?

V E G E M I T E

Well, there's no C. But there's an E!

But it certainly has a lot of B, and is fortified. it's lovely on toast, with some cheese. But the cheese may be incompatible with your other allergens?

0

avatar

Vegemite, and Marmite are food (??) I simply don't understand at all :D

I cannot have either yeast's or cheese, so I am free of checking this actually out, but the very smell puts me off too, to be fair(my Australia - born friend tried to forced me to try, really couldn't. It is a crime in Australia not to eat that? )

Amount of sodium is also little bit disturbing :D

0
0
0.000
avatar

Not a crime, at all. Just a a cultural shaming. I imagine the sodium content is not worse than heaping an enormous dollop of butter on toast. :D

They are indeed food, but not something I would eat every single day. More of a treat.

0

Seem to me that this food is deeply rooted in culture since it triggers people so much:)

Maybe being allergic is not that bad after all, becouse I can exclude myself from discussion completely :D
