Happiness Overload

You know that friend that always has the best relationship advice, but is single to stupor? Well, you can say that’s me. But you see that advice that I loved to give, I used it really well.

There was a time I worked as a relationship counsellor. Okay, I was a self-acclaimed relationship counsellor living to make those in love enjoy their relationship with my never-failing relationship tips.

You may want to ask me how I became one. Well, I don’t know how, too. I don’t even have a certification to support it, but I just wanted to use the little experiences I’ve had to help people have a better relationship life. And I did that. But, at some point, I opted out.

Not because it wasn’t paying, (I didn’t do it for the money to start with), I opted out because my advice put me in trouble twice, and twice bitten, thrice shy. So, I stopped.

Also, it seemed like the world was in a relationship, and they needed a place or someone to help them with many issues all at once. I knew I didn’t want to live my life as a relationship counsellor when I started getting really serious challenges that only an expert counsellor or therapist could help with.

When I was still an active adviser, there were two relationships that actually interested me.

One, was an issue of parents influencing the marital choice of one of my friends. He was in love with a beautiful, dark-skinned, petite young lady in her late twenties, but his parents wanted him to marry the daughter of a friend’s friend who has dual citizenship.

Apart from the selfish interest of marrying a rich and already-made woman, one major reason they kicked against the marriage was because the young lady my friend was in love with has sickle cell. And, you don’t want to hear the words used to describe her.

According to my friend’s dad, his son wouldn’t be able to spend money on something else, asides the health of his wife. What if she dies young? Would she be able to give him grandchildren? Bla bla. It was a long and serious battle, but somehow, we were able to fix a date for the introduction ceremony.

A lot of things happened along the line, but my phone number was never unreachable for my friend. I said to him, “when you can’t take it anymore or you feel that your head is full, you can always reach out to me. I am your friend after all”. And, he did exactly that.

After a long push and pull, dragging, and tears, I am happy to hear that they’ll be getting married before the year runs out! Oh, my heart is so filled with joy.

The other relationship that I was really invested in too was a three year relationship that was about to hit the rock because there was another guy trying to take over. Again, the guy in the relationship is my friend, and honestly, I’ve never met the lady.

From his explanation, I knew he was so in love with her, but he was frustrated and was ready to give up because the lady wasn’t yielding. Guess what I told him? “Pay her a visit. You know her home, just visit her already, and see if anything could be done to physically resolve this issue”.

The next morning, he said, “it’s been resolved”. How? Anyhow, anyhow, a forehead kiss ended the fight. Makes me remember the post I saw where ladies were called “little emotional gangsters”, Lol. She seemed like one.

Anyway, I am happy to announce that they have fixed a date for their wedding date too, and my entire heart is filled with so much excitement.

Even though I may be unable to attend the weddings because of the distance, it makes me happy that other people are happy, and somehow, I was part of making it happen because why not? There is so much happiness to go round.

It's always a good thing to see relationship works, even though misunderstanding can't be totally avoided, it's always nice to play the role of counsellor.

Although I try to avoid playing that role myself, but I admire your act, and it's good to see two relationship is now heading towards marriage.

Hope I'll be getting my own ice cream soon.

You should ask me if I want to play the role again, and I will scream NO because they have almost used me to do scapegoat. 😂

Meanwhile, where and how will you get the ice cream? 😂

That's the major reasons why I usually avoid it o.

I remember being in your shoe years ago, it wasn't funny at all.

Hehehe was just joking, I started craving ice cream after seeing one in your hand.😁

God, abeg. 😂😂😂

Maybe when Hivenaija finally organises a meet and greet where I'll see top Hive stars, I'll see you then, and I may be lucky to find a superyogo vendor closeby. 😂
