Just Do It

We always hear in our lives the phrase, "Just try your best." Maybe it does sound good, but at other times I think it misleads us. The real truth is that trying itself is not good enough. Real success is derived from doing, not trying.
When we say, "I'll try," we end up leaving room for doubt. When we commit to "I will do it," we rid ourselves of that doubt and create inside of us a mindset focused on determination and drive. That is what it really takes to shift from failure to success.
Life doesn't give you results because you tried but because you did what was required for the results to happen.
A musician about to play in front of a big audience will need to prepare enough to deliver a performance. If he goes into the rehearsals with the attitude, "I'll try to get it right," well, he may not work as hard. But if he says, "I'm going to perfect this piece," he's far more likely to put in the effort, time and passion required to truly master his craft.
The same happens with life. Whether you would like to pursue a different career, start your own business or develop personal habits, it is the doing and not the trying that motivates us to push our boundaries. It's taking action with a clear goal in mind, not half-heartedly testing the waters.
Athletes for instance train for years to be world champions. They don't just try to be the best, they do everything in their power to be the best. They train, sacrifice and stay focused. That is how you become successful. The discipline to push is the hardest part.
Of course, one thing that holds us back very often is the fear of failure. The fear is mainly if we put in all the effort and resources and then fail, we are going to have absolutely nothing left. But failure isn't the opposite of success, it's part of the journey.
Every setback along the way is a lesson and a stepping stone towards success. If you commit to doing, then you accept the fact that challenges will be there but also know that you will find a way through.
