Its coming out of the TV........ now we are never watching videos again...

Introduction

This is our entry into the Cine TV about your favourite Halloween movie. This week we have picked The Ring, a film we have only watched once and will never watch again.

► About

This is a film about a cursed video tape....yes it probably would not be a problem now as "video" would be very retro....and about that if you watch it it kills you in 7 days...

► What you loved about it

I did not love it. It was terrifying. I still remember watching it now and the reaction I had is ingrained on my soul. It is a film that is so memorable it stays with you for ever. For a horror film to so dramatically enter modern Japanese and western culture is s phenomenon in itself!

► How it influenced me

This was not a film that influenced me but influenced a generation. This film gained main stream attention and although I have not watched them sparked a number of American remakes. The idea and the style in the film is stunning and it really packs a horror punch all the way through. This was not a big film when released and its slightly low budget grainy effect helps the film to ass a darkness which enhances rather than takles away from the whole concept.

► What part of it did you find most interesting.

The best scene is where she is coming out of the TV crawling her way though. It is a horror within a film....as I was watching on a TV....what if she kept on going?

► Why do you think it's significant and great.

Like I have said this is a film that stays with you. It has been suggested it is a film that basically started J-horror and has spawned remakes, sequels and manga adaptations. If you are talking about modern Horror films this is a film that cannot be ignored. I could not ignore it and when I watched it for the only time I do not think that I slept well that night. To be honest I have not engaged or watched any of the other films. Why? Well that film scared me so much I was too scared to watch any of the others...now if that is not the best of horror movies than I do not know what is? Luckily we don't have nay videos in the house....so unless it starts with a netflix film I think we are safe for now...
