What the Actual F Did I Just Watch?? - 2020 Netflix Movie

Netflix is a giant yeah? Agreed?! Well, I reckon we can agree on that; and presumably all the content in there one might say is great. Right? Wrong!!! So I have this setting on my Netflix account, smart download. It's one where movies are automatically downloaded for you, for offline viewing based on your viewing history. Aloevera was one of the movies that was downloaded for me. Today was my free day from work (well, soon everyday would be), so I decided to see one of the movies I've gotten. I saw the title and it seemed like an interesting watch, so I dived straight in.

ABOUT ALOEVERA

Its a movie about a community at war. It started from a minor debate between two kids on which came first between a hen (Aloe) and egg (Vera), (pretty silly, I know). The debate got heated quickly and cuss words started flying. The whole thing escalated, and a feud ensued between the community. So much so that it caused a great divide. One set of the community believed the hen (aloe) came first, and the other believed the egg (Vera) came first. Both parties went their separate ways. The part who believed that the hen came first took the color blue symbolically and literally. Their names started with aloe, e.g "Aloewin", and same with the other section who believed the egg (Vera) came first. Thier's was color yellow, and Thier names came with Vera, e.g "Veralin". The rivalry was toxic and unceasing, until two young people fell in love from both sides amidst the quarrel. Kinda like Romeo and Juliet, but stupider.

My VIEW

I've always wondered why people don't make a list for awful things. I mean, we see tons of list of "best this, best that", but hardly ever one of awful things. Sounds gibberish, but you get my point. So I thought, I'd make a list of awful Netflix movies and this makes my list already, lol. Immediately I started watching this movie, I kept asking myself, "Why the f*** am I watching this". Yet, I kept going. I abandoned it, but alas my curiosity wouldn't let me. I mean, the pettiness is uncanny. The plot was childish, they say it was a comedy, but I didn't get a single "haha" moment. Don't get me wrong, there were actually a lot of good parts in the movie, but gee, I think the shitty things outweigh the nice ones. One might wonder, why was this movie even made. But I have to commend the costume guys and all. The details to the set must have taking a lot of work. The color thing went down to the wire. Kinda like the great divide. It's silly, but commendable. Then there came the musical, booooy, that was awful. Still, love is a beautiful thing, and the ending was incredibly soothing. It's so hard not to give spoilers, but I'd hold out still.

STREAM OR SKIP

If you are looking for something soothing, you know, to watch and feel good about, then this works. No way this movie is for an adult audience, because it felt so basic right from the beginning. Even the producer of the movie jokingly tagged it "foolish". It was created in a light hearted mood, nothing serious so I would cut the directors some slack. The acting was mid, the plot was sub-par, the musical even ruined it in a way. BUT the intricacies were incredible. From the clothing, to housing, down to ordinary things like pen and paper, everything. In the end, it was the whole cheesy love story thing. Love conquers all. Romeo and Juliet wannabe, that. Honestly, I'd say skip. Absolute waste of time this. I would rate it a 5.5 out of 10. Just because a lot of work went into the movie.

Haha what the actual F did I just read now? 😂😂

Well, thanks for the spoiler alongside recommendations but I'm definitely not going to see the movie.

Except of course, I'm stuck somewhere the movie is being played (you understand right?) 🤣

The lead girl is looking beautiful and tempting me but sadly, I won't fall for it.

Its good to say one's mind after seeing a movie, 5.5 is being generous from what I just read 😅

Haha, I had to be generous. If you see the meticulous planning of the set, Omo, you might rate it higher.

Now let your curiosity thrive you hear!!! 😅

I was almost afraid that this was a product of my country, but a quick Google thankfully proved me wrong. Although we have many cringe productions coming from South Africa as well, this is thankfully not one of them.

Kinda like Romeo and Juliet, but stupider.

This sound exactly like Romeo and Juliet! Who knows what their parent's feud was about? It was probably equally ridiculous! An R&J rip off I reckon.

I actually watched a comical version of R&J kist last week called Rosaline; it's a new release from Hulu. From the point of view of Rosaline, Romeo's deserted ex-girlfriend. A bit cheesy but quite cynical and funny. An Easy watch.

Haha, I've actually seen some cringe worthy shows from you guys too, lol. But be at peace knowing that Nigeria, my country is the home of it, haha.

Your comment was spot on btw

Cringe worthy is an understatement. But I guess each country has their embarrassing films. Made for netflix movies are a good place to start. Storylines are pretty lacking! !PIZZA
