For the past few days, I've been contemplating what the theme for my second post about presenting my city should be. However, in the past month, as spring has started to arrive and flowers began to bloom, I noticed a particular tree that seems to be everywhere I go. This tree is not a common sight in my city; maybe it only exists in certain neighborhoods, or perhaps I've just never paid attention to the trees we have before.

I live in Katerini, located in central Macedonia, Greece. It is the capital city of the Pieria regional unit and a beautiful and lively city, especially during the summer months. Tourists flock to Katerini during this time because of its long coastline, proximity to Mount Olympus (the tallest mountain in Greece and home of the Olympian Gods), significant archaeological interest, and numerous sightseeing opportunities, hiking trails, and great waters to swim in. However, in winter, there isn't much to do, making spring and summer all the more enjoyable.

The cherry blossom, also known as the Japanese cherry or sakura, is the tree that I seem to find in every corner of the city these days. I'm not exactly sure what strain it is, but it's stunningly beautiful, and looking at it fills me with a great feeling, probably because of its vibrant color. If you were to ask me to describe this year's spring in my city, I would say that it's like a pink cherry blossom tree.

Some info about the tree

Common Name Cherry blossom, Japanese cherry, sakura
