Diego the giant turtle ( the daddy)
I found an article about a turtle it's story brought me the image of @trumpman a pure Alpha-Male!!
The story is about Diego a.k.a. «papurris» (that means «daddy»-ish in spanish)
But who is Diego???
Diego is a turtle more than 100 years old with a saddle shell. The handsome and lustful 5 feet height and more than 50 kg tortoise is now the proud father of at least 40% of the baby turtles that grow comfortably on the Espanola island in the Galapagos archipelago.
Back in the 1960s, Ecuador was searching for a male individual to save the species and so Diego was found in the United States at a zoo in San Diego, California. Its transfer and repatriation to the archipelago as part of a Giant Tortoise Restoration Initiative (GTRI) started in 1976 and from that moment it became a symbol of procreation.
At that time there were only two male individuals and twelve females of the species. Thanks to the initiative there are about 2,300 turtles now. The successful program is an example for conservation and was led by the Galápagos National Park and its strategic ally the Galapagos Conservancy Found.
The other turtle named E5 had more children but
Despite E5's being more successful at reproducing, Diego has received the majority of media attention and has been said to have "had so much sex he saved his species This is believed to be because E5 had a more reserved character, a less interesting name, and was seldom witnessed in the act of mating.Diego, by comparison, has been described as aggressive, active and vocal in the act of mating, which in turn made him popular with the female tortoises.
Even in turtles and achievements the optics play a big part on who will get the publicity.
That's a real Daddy for you .
In interesting story because thanks to Diego the species will survive.
