A Saturday spent in the river bed, looking for marine fossils. - [ENG-ITA]

Dear Hivians, today I went on a search for fossil remains accompanied by my mother and Shyla. The outing was intended to make a video for my Youtube channel, where I show directly where to look for the correct points and which rocks may contain fossilized marine species. @giovi86 was not with us today, as she was busy attending a massage course, so I will have my own personal wellness center at home :D.

Cari Hivians, oggi sono andato alla ricerca di reperti fossili, accompagnato da mia madre e Shyla. L'uscita era intenta per realizzare un video per il mio canale Youtube, dove faccio vedere direttamente quali sono i punti corretti dove cercare e quali sono le rocce che possono racchiudere specie marine fossilizzate. Oggi @giovi86 non era con noi, impegnata a seguire un corso di massaggi, così poi avrò il centro benessere personale a casa :D.

These fossil remains that you see in the post, in this case fossilized shells, are very similar to those we find today on the beaches. They are part of those very common fossils that are found in almost all Italian watercourses, as Italy is a geologically young land, except for Sardinia, which was part of an ancient land that existed long before the Italian peninsula was formed. However, in almost all areas of the world with recent geological formations, being emerged lands of only a few million years, it is likely to find similar fossils in watercourses, which during torrential rains emerge on the surface, thanks to the erosion of water.

Questi reperti fossili che vedete nel post, in questo caso delle conchiglie fossilizzate, molto simili a quelle che troviamo tutt'oggi nelle spiagge. Fanno parte di quei fossili molto comuni, che si trovano quasi in tutti i letti dei corsi d'acqua Italiani, essendo l'Italia una terra geologicamente giovane, eccetto la Sardegna, che faceva parte di un antica terra emersa che esisteva già molto prima che si formasse la penisola Italiana. Ma bene o male, in quasi tutte le zone del mondo di recente formazione geologica, essendo terre emerse da pochi milioni di anni, è probabile ritrovare fossili simili nei corsi d'acqua, che durante le piogge torrenziali emergono in superficie, grazie all'erosione dell'acqua.

If you live in ancient lands, such as the African or North American plains, do not despair if there are no marine fossils, worst-case scenario, digging there you could find a Tyrannosaurus Rex :). Jokes aside, it is true that Cretaceous dinosaurs are only found in the oldest areas, such as those previously mentioned, while in Italy it would be impossible to find any type of land dinosaur, but not for marine ones, where there have been many discoveries, such as many fossils of Megalodon (the giant ancestor of the white shark) have been found on the Italian coasts.

Se abitate invece per esempio in terre antiche, come le pianure Africane o del Nord America, non disperate se non ci sono fossili marini, mal che vada scavando li potreste trovare un Tirannosauro Rex :). Scherzi a parte è vero, i dinosauri del Cretaceo si trovano solo nelle zone più antiche come quelle nominate precedentemente, mentre in Italia sarebbe impossibile trovare qualsiasi tipo di Dinosauro terrestre, ma non per quelli marini, dove invece vi sono stati molti ritrovamenti, come per esempio moltissimi fossili di Megalodonte (il gigantesco antenato dello squalo bianco) sono stati ritrovati nelle coste Italiane.

Today was a short expedition, also because I couldn't find good rocks, or rather, there were two very interesting rocks, but they were wedged under other boulders and I couldn't extract them to then section them with a hammer and chisel. I only sectioned the most protruding part of one of the two, a piece about 30 cm wide and 10 cm thick. Imagine that in that single piece, which must have been 10% of the rock, I found about 11/12 shells, but some were just fragments, while others broke, but I recovered 3 well-preserved ones. Unfortunately, due to a lack of further time and material to work more simply, I couldn't find those coveted pieces that I was looking for, such as anemones, ancient crustaceans, or fish.

Oggi è stata una spedizione breve, anche perchè non sono riuscito a trovare buone rocce, o meglio, c'erano due rocce molto interessanti, ma erano incastrate sotto altri massi e non riuscivo ad estrarle per poi sezionarle con martello e scalpello. Ho solo sezionato la parte più sporgente di una delle due, un pezzo di circa 30 cm di larghezza e spesso 10 cm. Pensate, che in quel unico pezzo, che sarà stato il 10% della roccia, ho ritrovato circa 11/12 conchiglie, ma alcune erano solo frammenti, altre invece si sono rotte, però 3 di ben conservate le ho recuperate. Purtroppo per mancanza di ulteriore tempo e materiale da poter lavorare più semplicemente non sono riuscito a trovare quei pezzi più ambiti che stavo cercando, come anemoni, antichi crostacei o pesci.

Then you look at her and she makes expressions like saying "what do you want from me?", ahahah, that crazy dog makes me laugh so much...

Well, what can I say to conclude, it was an interesting day spent outdoors, and I hope that with the video that I will put together later, because I need more material, I can share a little bit of passion for this fascinating lost world. Oltre tutto avevo come vedete nelle foto, la mia guardia del corpo Shyla costantemente che mi controllava ed era sempre al mio fianco, tanto che mentre stavo girando un video su un pezzo appena ritrovato, lei molto gentilmente si era seduta sopra con tutto il culo. Poi la guardi e ti fa le espressioni come dire “ma cosa vuoi da me?”, ahahah, mi fa morire dal ridere quella matta...

Beh, che dire per concludere, che è stata una giornata interessante, passata all'aria aperta e spero che con il video che monterò più avanti, perchè ho necessità di altro materiale, possa condividere un po' di passione per questo affascinante mondo perduto.
