Unlocking Productivity: The Power of Waking Up Early and Habit Stacking
In this century where technology is vast and everyone is easily distracted by it, especially with social media, it is important for one to have a means to stay productive and become less distracted. With this, one can get the most important things of their life done.
As for me, the number one hack that I use to stay productive is:
I get energized when I stand up early from bed and this is because I get to start my day early and am able to do the important things in my life early. Most of the time, I wake up between 4am and 6am. Anything later than that time is already late for me. With this time, I get to arrange my room, think about what I need to cover through the day, and list them and make sure they are done.
Most of the times, I always do have a lot of things to do by the day but I try not to make myself overwhelmed by these things but instead break them down to the top 5 most important things that I must accomplish no matter what. If I don't do anything at all, I must make sure that I do something out of these 5 things, and I begin my day with doing it.
Sometimes, I create a time block for my activity. All thanks to my smart watch, I set a daily reminder for my watch to vibrate at a certain time of the day. When my watch vibrates, I try as much to round up whatever activity I was on, or leave it entirely to do that activity that is needed at that time.
There is something called habit stacking. I stack my habits so my body gets to know that when this activity is done, then I should do the next. Every evening by 8pm, my watch vibrates that I should take my evening shower and brush my teeth. I do make sure that is done, and after that, I know that the next activity I have to do next is my mod duty on Hive Learners. By 9pm, my alarm goes on again to remind me that I should have finished with the duty and I should give myself a 30-minute break.

For now, what I just do is:
- Waking up early to plan my day
- List out 3-5 top most important task to do for the day
- Set alarms and stack habits
What I am learning to do now is plan my week ahead, especially for activities that are consistent on each day of the week. So this would make me have a view on things I need to do. I am making use of Notion Calendar year because it is easy to also take notes on those activities while you plan them. I would keep working it out till I get used to it.
What about you? What do you do to stay productive?

good policy : early bird catches the worm
Hmm. I like the way you put it.
I always make sure that I do the most important things in the morning
Afternoon may be too busy for me so I’m always an early bird in doing all my tasks
Yeah, that what being productive is, doing the most important things first. Thanks for the input.
early risers are always achievers
hmm.. do you have anything you noticed about early risers?
To be honest I don't wake up early in the morning and I don't need any reminders for my task as I keep it in my mind. I do maximum of my tasks at night time and you can say me a night owl. I can easily overcome the habit and I already have a plan for it. I followed the plan since the new year but because of my exam I stopped following the plan as I love to read in the night time.
I get the way it is for you. Since you stay up all late at night then it is normal for you not to be awake early in the body. Your body surely needs the rest it deserves. What matters most is that you get the most important things done.
As for reminders, do not say you do not need it. Everyone forget things sometimes and it would make it easy for you if you set reminders for your task.
I did get into the habit of waking up early. And I do the habit stacking too but quite differently. I’ve seen that I tend to lose focus quite easily so while I start with the easy things then gradually move to the hard things …
for me, starting with easy things depends on the level of its importance in my life. I would not start with something easy if I have a tougher job to do and it has a more important impact to my life.
although, I follow a series of habit staking. I have a routine when I wake up before I go on fulfilling tasks.
