The Surprising Turn of Events That Led to a Duolingo Premium Membership

It's been a while since I wrote an article on my phone, but I am forced to do that today because my system had some issues when I tried converting it from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro.
However, the issue with my laptop is not the main reason I am writing today. I want to tell you about a shocking situation that happened recently. Just about 5 days ago, Duolingo started a premium discount offer with up to 60% off. As someone who is very interested in learning Spanish and seeing the possibilities of having a premium membership to aid my learning, I was motivated to not let this opportunity pass me by.
So instead of paying $30 without the discount, I would pay $18 with the discount included. And this premium membership would be for a whole year. I was happy about this, but $18 was a lot of money for me.
Then I thought that this premium discount could include up to 5 people in a family plan. So I tried recruiting 5 people to take advantage of the discount.
I contacted my two closest friends, @creativepearl and @olujay, to see if they would be interested. But they both didn't see the opportunity I saw, or it was not a priority for them as it was for me.
Then I contacted @hopestylist because I knew of her enthusiasm for learning Spanish. She agreed to join the plan, but before she sent the money to pay for it, I decided to pay the $18 by myself, planning to collect the money from hopestylist later.
Having only $18 left in my bank account, I made the decision to pay for the premium package. I was debited and was not given the premium membership.
My eyes shone and my heart started racing. It was as if I was losing my mind, but then I realized that the $18 was the only money I had left. I had to pause and take a deep breath, thinking to myself that maybe it would take a little time before I was given the premium package.
So I waited a little while and, viola! I got the premium membership.
I was very happy that I didn't lose my money, or it would have ruined my mood and made me angry at Duolingo.
Then I went on to look for how to add friends to the plan, so that I would know how to add hopestylist when she sends half of the money for the premium package. But I couldn't find a way to add a friend.
After searching for a few minutes, I realized that the family plan was a completely different plan and it cost $46. I was shocked and surprised, as I thought it was the same as the $18 plan.
I couldn't help but imagine what I would tell hopestylist if I had collected her money. She might think I was trying to play her. Now, I have spent an unplanned $18, my very last cash in my bank account.
But then I remembered, Hive will always be there for me. I will survive...
hopestylist, I guess you now understand why I said you shouldn't bother again.

I went to practice on Duolingo yesterday and the poo up to update my app came. I updated the app and then I saw the offer. I also thought it was a family plan but I'm glad I came across your content before I made any decision. Else, I would be weeping too rnπ
