THE ROAD ARE BAD ENOUGH TO AFFECT YOUR HEALTH
As I said in my title, Nigerian roads are terror, I am not sure for other states but I am very sure for Lagos State since that is where I grew up from. Roads in Lagos are filled with air pollution because of the amount of cars and traffic that happens day by day.
Designed by me using canva
The situation is always bad mostly when there is traffic as there would be a lot of congestion between motor vehicles and worst of it all is that these vehicles are due for servicing but are not being taken for proper care.

I hate it most when I am travelling as well most especially between Lagos and Ogun State, and do you know why? That's certainly because the roads are very dusty, at the same time filled with CO2 that makes travelling experience worse.

Aside from your physical Health being affected by Nigerian Roads, your mental Health is at risk also. Taking a scenario where you work from 8am to 7pm everyday and you face at least 4-5 hours of traffic each when you are going to and fro from work. What do you think would happen to you mentally?

I can relate to when, I used to wake up as early 5am to prepare for office and to leave at most 6am. But most Unfortunately, I still come out to find out that almost everyone is outside already at this time. I may end up facing a 2-3 hours traffic at least and sometimes more before I get to work due to the numbers of cars already on the road and their impatience.

This is one of the reasons I dislike travelling by roads, I prefer other means of transportation like Air or via water but too bad, all my life I have only transported on road and do not know how it feel to be on a plane or in a ferry.

This is just a sincere fact mate and I just hope something is done about it,the road in Lagos alone is capable not sending someone to his/ early grave.
Am not trying to be sarcastic here, but at times I wonder how people in Ikorodu survive at times.
Chai... I live at ikorodu and it's tough when I go to the islands without facing traffic which can be annoying 🥵🤬
I haven't been to Lagos before but I hear stories of how stressful living there can be.
But I heard it's also a fun place, but even with the fun I can't cope with such an environmental oh😂😂😂it would just make me go gaga
Smiles, if you come to lagos you would surely cope trust me. Just that you would feel the heat from traffic congestions. You should come for a visit
Bruh the roads can make a pregnant woman have miscarriage. If shit hold person for Lagos Ibadan, na to park enter bush because if not, person fit shit for body
Lol, true talk oh... I like traveling with an empty stomach because of these things. It's better to go hungry than entering bush to short put.
The worst thing that can happen to me In lagos traffic is being in a car with no Ac, meaning we may have to whine down the windows...no way😟😟😟
The population is crazy, it gives instant headache
Yeah whining the windows down means more smoke and noise. The annoying thing is one's phone can be snatched if not careful when having your window whined down.
I agree with what you said, the drawback of land transportation is that we experience tremendous traffic jams, so that it makes us late for activities and I, like you, have never experienced how it feels to be able to board a plane or ferry. maybe someday we can enjoy it like everyone else
Yeah, someday we may enjoy it like everyone else 😁🙏
Hmmm, I suffered mental health during my internships days in Lagos.
For the whole one year, I used public transport except some few days that hubby dropped me off.
In fact, to work in Lagos is not a joke, especially when applying a long distance. No wonder some people use a boat to go to work from the island to the mainland.
That’s why I keep telling my friends that I can never stay in Lagos no matter how they convince me😂😂. I can go for holidays but stay there permanently? Never! I’m too fragile for that. But all the states have their predicaments, check out the dangers of staying at Rivers state on my blog.
I agree with you 💯. The traffic is really something else. The CO that vehicles use in polluting the air is getting out of hand especially here in Nigeria.
Your vehicle is bad repair it no. I tire and the worse part is they that are using these vehicles don't feel the pollution.
This one self is air pollution the noise us another big pollution. God help us.
Nice write-up dear.
You get it right, the air pollution is accompanied with noise pollution as well.
Yes oo, the one I'm experiencing now self ehn, e weak me. Me that is staying near the road😏😒.
Indeed bad roads are just crazy…is not only in your country but I think Africa as a whole have a general issues when it comes to road
So it's the same to Ghana as well

This just reminded me of my days in Lagos. I would wake up by 3:30 to be out by 4:30 or at most 5am. I stayed in Ikeja while my office was at elegushi. Bro, even when I hit the road as early as 4:30, I still do not get to the office by 7am. And when I leave the office by 4pm, I get home by 11pm everyday. After three months of working, I resigned. My mental health was draining. My eyes were always puffed because of lack of sleep. I was constantly having headache everyday.
Lagos is not for everybody abeg
You are on point!
In Lagos Aja I set to leave for the mainland by 5am, you won’t believe the amount of traffic I met.
I got home by 8, I wish I was kidding.
I don’t know if it’s as a result of over population or bad roads or even both but we need help!
Pollution is just too bad in this country
Not only air
Every single type of pollution dey here
Imagine spending hours on roads inhaling polluted air in traffic jams ..
Not only does this have bad health implications, the time spent is also a huge chunk of daily life
Time you could be using to rest or learn something,
You're in traffic 🤦🏾♂️
I feel like a good solution would be trains...
If Nigeria invested in good trains, it would be a game changer..
But I guess that's Just wishful thinking at this point
Omo, you don dey bad for canva ooo... I twale baba!
True!
The road in lagos is bad enough for your physical health, psychological health, emotional health and social health also. The noise pollution, air pollution, "heat pollution" and "mouth/words" pollution, in terms of abuses with words people dish out every now and then, all affect the way we reason and the way we do things.
It is difficult for one who lived his or her life in the streets of lagos for 25 years to go to a calm state and get used to it. He or she has to start a new life or relearn.
That's one of the reasons i prefer travelling by train moving from Ibadan to Lagos, but the insecurity in Naija makes it difficult for me to do that recently.
