Lessons Learned from a Betrayal: My Experience with Cheating
Due to the situation of things, which could be anything from self-interest to desires, we find people who cheat on others to get what they want. They do this without thinking about the negative side effects it may have on others; all that matters is their gain.
There are different levels to cheating, and one of the most common aspects is although not everyone sees this as cheating borrowing money from someone and choosing not to return it again. If you don't see it as cheating, I personally do.
If cheating involves breaking an agreement or rule, then how is this different from cheating? We agreed on a certain condition and time frame for returning my money, and you refuse to pick up my calls because of this. Then you certainly cheated me.
Although it has been a while since I have been in such a situation, this is because I have been very careful about who I borrow money from since my last experience. It taught me a big lesson: I should only borrow money I can let go of.
All this depends on a lot of situations. I once wrote an article that covered when not to borrow money, which was a long time ago.
I would be sharing my last experience of being cheated of my money. This was about 4 years ago, and it is an experience that I am grateful for, not because I lost money but because it made me wiser in person.
STORY TIME
If you read my posts very well, I may have shared the experience before. So let's begin:
I had this friend that I transacted with. He sells musical instruments and some other equipment, like parts that you may need to change in your equipment. I buy stuff from him, and sometimes he gives me stuff on credit that I can pay later, and I make sure I do it on time.
A time came when he called me, requesting money to get some items online that he needed urgently for his sales and that would yield a lot of profit. He sounded desperate, as if if I don't give him anything, he can die.
And stupid of me, I had my school fees with me at that moment, and due to my pity nature, I gave him the money, and he promised to return it in the month ending with interest on it too. I was more particular with my money; the interest is not important.
I vividly made him know what the money was for and how important returning the money would be to me.
When the time came for him to return the money, he started asking for more time, then moved on to not picking up my calls, and when I called with a new number, he picked up the call and gave me excuses.
It went over a month, and then I realised this guy had cheated me and had no plans to return my money. I had a lot of evil thoughts about dealing with him, but the angel in me said I should let him go; better days are ahead of me.
I was in pain; I even caused him We were just entering the new year of 2020 back then. He made my new year unhappy, but you know what? 2020 became one of the best years for me, as things were going really well for me on Hive.
I was able to raise the 40,000 naira from Hive to pay my school fees, as there is no way I could explain to my parents how I lost the money they gave me to pay my school fees. I would get a lot of scolding, and I would not have peace in the house again.
And now, I have grown to be a better person and wiser, especially in the aspect of borrowing people's money.

Crushyy, I'm so sorry 😔
Please bring this guy for us let's deal with him .. seriously.. hehehehe.. just kidding 😂
I'm glad you were able to sort your school fees out and you did not get into trouble with your parents. But now your friendship has been strained and he has lost your trust.
I have gotten the lesson well, only borrow money that you are willing to lose... It's a lesson I learned from a previous post of yours concerning money lending 😁
Bye. 🏃🏾♀️
Why is she now running? 😃😃
Haha... Before I comot the head of the person who makes my crushyy live in the past 😂😂
😂 Abeg no comot am
Torh! That's why I am running to cool my temper down 😂
Okay, keep running until you stop thinking of hurting someone´s head 😂
The plan I had in mind for him ehn! It would have made him lose more than he borrowed but I decided to calm my nerves and move on with the pain.
I deleted his number and since then we have not talked again. I have even forgotten his name self.
Yeah, this lesson has taught me well oh.. I no fit forget am.
Before reading to the end, I was wondering how you were going to make up for the school fees, but thankfully you were able to raise it.
I think this aspect of cheating is kind of underrated. I believe the guy thought he was smart and that he would be able to get away with it and there is nothing that you can do about it.
Or maybe, just maybe things didn’t go well for him and he was facing some challenges, but not picking up calls is a very bad thing.
We all learn from our experiences tho.
He didn't make any single attempt to refund my money which means he didn't have any plans to. It's been 4 years now.
I won't believe things were not working for him if not he would have tried to contact me.
I am glad things got better for me.
Hmmm, but Wait
Do you mean he later did not return the money even after his promises?
Now this is an intentional cheat inform of borrowing. Many people do this alot, they borrow without an intention of paying back.
Well, in every rough experience, there must always be a lesson to learn and I am glad you learnt one here
He did not return #5 naira of the money he borrowed. And was still ignoring my calls intentionally.

Experience is a good teacher whether bad or good. You really want far to lend that guy money out of your school fee, did he later try to settle it with you?
Brother, he didn't oh. Not even a penny...
That's bad
Steps involved with someone who borrows and not intending to return back;
Miss deadline
Extend for more time
Ignoring calls
Start threatening, that is if it doesn't get to that extent 😄😄 I just framed this up while reading your experience. Of course, it is what happens.
If you borrow from me and not return it, it is simply cheating. That's all.
These steps are the truth no doubt. And that's how they do...
Exactly the point...
So sorry you had to go through that. It must have been really painful because I can totally relate. Some set of people can be very wicked, selfish and annoying. May God not allow our paths cross with those kind of people again🙏
Amen oh... May God not let our paths with those kinds of people cross oh.. these people are wicked and selfish.
It's funny how they come all innocent when they come borrowing but turn incognito when it's time to pay up . Some even feel entitled saying you're disturbing them.. Experience they say is the best teacher!!
Exactly! And be classifying what you borrowed them little. It can be so annoying...
