Balancing Budgets: Gadgets and Grub on a Dime
Today started with a little low energy. I woke up tired because I slept really late. This was because yesterday night, MTN decided to give me a very bad network even with my 5G router, which made me stay up late at night to create my last post of the day.
I also planned on studying that night before going to bed, but somehow I got really hungry, went to make some Indomie to eat around 2 a.m., then after eating, I started listening to music and then slept off. I could not study any longer than I planned to because I was already pretty tired.
After waking up, I had to resume at the place of my IT, which lasted for about 3 hours, before coming back home. I got back home, and somehow I felt sleepy again. My plan was to study for hours today to fill up the space that I was not able to fill yesterday but slept off eventually.
When I woke up, I had to get to the pharmacy to get medicine for a sore throat, which I had been feeling since the beginning of the day, and also to get insecticide, as I have been seeing a lot of mosquitoes in my room lately. I need to protect myself from having malaria.
I spared the whole house, then visited a friend not far from my place to stay for a while before heading back home. Almost every day I have a meeting from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This meeting is about video editing, and I must confess, I am a little tired of it because I face issues with the internet, and I would love to use the time to do other things instead.
My friend joined me back at my place while I attended my meeting. Then we started to discuss how easy it is to spend money to buy gadgets, but buying food for the house is always a problem for us. For over two months, there has not been a single food item in my house, but I have been spending money on gadgets here and there. In the span of a month, I had spent $73 on buying a router, $63 on my gas caburator, and $120 on my smart television, which I use as a monitor for my work and studies, yet there was no food in the house. How funny it is!
How do I feed?
I buy food outside every day. I try not to spend more than $3 per day on food. This is quite expensive, I know. But buying food anytime I am hungry saves me time to do things I want to do instead of spending it all in the kitchen cooking.
To some degree, I like cooking, but I hate it because of the time I spend in the kitchen instead of doing something productive.
The reason why I am broke at the moment is because I have been trying to create comfort for myself by solving the challenges I face, which include buying a 5G router to solve internet problems, a hybrid Gas/petrol converter to solve electricity problems, and a monitor for wider viewing and entertainment.
I am not complaining, but I know that with the little time I have and with the issues that I have been able to work on, thanks to Hive, I will be able to build my skills and potential to earn more in the future. I view them as investments in my future.
Hopefully, everything turns out for the better.
The pictures I shared at the beginning of the post show what I am eating for dinner. I only spent $1 for that, which makes a total of $2.3 spent on today's meal. Oh, I didn't mention that I bought bread, beans, an egg, and soda this afternoon for $1.3.
Anyway, that's all about my day. See you all tomorrow.

Lol.
I used to live like this. Buy books, more books, more books at the expense of food.
But, these days I realize we need energy to do work and physics was right. So I tried to budget for food.
It's still a constant battle to cook though because waking up and getting straight into Hive means spending time here late into the day. And by afternoon, I'll find myself going out to get meat-pie to avoid cooking 🤣
But I have a hack now. When I wake up, after my first post, I land in my kitchen and start cooking. I watched myself and the moment the rice gets into the water, there's no going back for me. So the hack is to pour the rice into water and the rest is history.
Please, send me your TV, crushyy, let me help you and use it 😁
I wish you the best in everything

Make me remember "Kuti burger" back in Univerity days. Basically bread with fried eggs in between.
Apparently, I'm currently taking fried yams and akara while reading this post.😅
