A MOVIE ADDICT THAT I AM!!! || DIVE INTO MY LIFE
π£πΎπππππΎπ½ πππππ πΌπΊπππΊ
I recall vividly being engrossed in watching movies, particularly series when I was in secondary school. I literally couldn't live without a series that I'm binge-watching or a movie that I'm planning to watch.
The only time I don't find myself sitting in front of the television is when I have exams, and even then, I manage to watch movies. I recall vividly being a DC fan and watching the Justice League animation series as well as the Smallville movie series back then.
Speaking of Smallville, it was and still is my favourite movie series because it taught me a lot about my favourite superhero, Superman. I learned a lot about his origins and how he lived his life before becoming the Superman we all know and love. This was the film that defined my childhood. I watched the series from season 1 to season 10. Season 11 was comics, and I had to read the comics because I love them.
I was also captivated by movies like Supernaturals; when you hear names like Sam and Dean, you know the person is a member of the family. I didn't watch the movie all the way through, but it was one of the movies I watched back to back.
I was a total movie junkie. There was no trending movie mentioned (most American action and thriller movies) that I would not have watched; I took movies more seriously than I did my studies.
But now, things seem to have changed...
What actually changed?
I literally moved from watching over 100 movies a year to someone who rarely watch a movie in a month. Like literally, the number of movies I have watched this year can never be up to 10. Maybe it is because I grew up.
Maybe it's because I'm no longer the kid I used to be, and I'm aware that adulthood has set in. Or have I naturally progressed from being an interesting person to a boring person? (what some of my friends call me). From my point of view, I actually enjoy my life.
What do I love about my life?
Aside from the fact that I no longer get to watch movies like I used to, I enjoy almost every aspect of my life. This is because I am not always bored by the majority of the activities in which I am involved. This is the main reason I can be very engaged and still not feel like sleeping after literally spending the entire day.
I only sleep when I really want to, more like when I need to because I have literally exhausted all of my energy.
What do I spend my time doing?
I would most likely be studying if I wasn't organising meetings for newbies on @hive-bootcamp or @newbies-hive. I don't mean studying for my physical school (in which I have only 1% interest), but rather for my tech career as a Cloud/DevOps Engineer. So far, it's been quite interesting...
What do I do in my free time?
Actually, I am not at all boring... In my spare time, I either do one of these four activities. I'm either eating, playing the guitar, learning a language (particularly Spanish), or sleeping.
I am a self-proclaimed foodie. I adore food and would gladly be paid to try new foods and provide feedback on how they tasted after consumption. If such a job existed, it would be fantastic.
In order to play the guitar, I mostly play at church on weekends. During the week, you won't see me playing the guitar. Unless I have a programme coming up, it is quite rare. But when I have nothing to do or need a break from my daily routines, you can find me on the guitar.
I am a huge fan of the Spanish community. I loved Spanish before joining Hive, and joining Hive gave me even more reason to take my Spanish Duolingo lessons seriously. I currently have a 104-lesson streak on Duolingo, which means I use the Duolingo app almost every day.
What is more interesting than having to sleep?
Despite the fact that this is the best of my free time and what I rarely do. I sleep 4 hours a day and I think my body is used to it. Without an alarm, my body is programmed to wake up as early as 4 a.m., despite the fact that I usually go to bed as late as 12 a.m. or almost 2 a.m.
Nature strikes me down because this is not healthy. The sleep I don't get always come unexpectedly to compensate for my stress.
If you read to this point, thank you for reading but actually, I am not a movie addict but was one. The whole Idea of the title was to catch your attention.

I like SmallVille, and I especially like long series because I finish short series in days. But SmallVille, SmallVille was too long for a long series even for me. SmallVille and Supernatural both. Although I stopped watching Supernaturals at season 1 because I didnβt like it that much.
I think that your food tasting job actually exists. Yeah I think I recall something like a while back, but in the case I heard, it was an alcohol tasting job, and it turned out the taster became an alcoholic in the end and tried to sue his company for it. Donβt bite me, this is a story I was told by my food Biochemistry professor lol.
Haha that alcoholic taster lines got me cracking up so loud! Seriously??...He had to sue the company for making him an addict...was it the company that told him be an addict...or better still doesn't he knows how to curtail excess of that intake lol?
Lol we didnβt ask questions. Just went with the story, because we all knew that was what it was. It was pretty obvious it was a made up story but we still went with it.π
Okay, I hope it was really made up lol... because I don't understand that storyπ
Yeah I want to bet it was made up. You know how sometimes teachers make up stories to get you interested and to help you remember stuff? Yeah I think that was one of those times. Canβt tell for certain though. Couldβve been true, but if it is, that is one crazy situation.π
Ahaa I remembered one scenario like that in school and till date I wonder if they did dejavu to me...guess what I realized that fact when am already a grown-up rofl.
Lecturers make up stories my brother. If I start mentioning the ones I have heard ehn, you self would know it's a complete lie and made up.
Lol... Smallville was the perfect series for me. Not too long or too short. I can say that supernatural was too long because it went on to season 15. Damn it. I wish I can watch it but I know it's gonna be hard for my kind of person.
Lol.. the guy has to end up being an alcoholic when his main job is to taste alcohol π π€£. I hope that guy was paid well to taste alcohol because I know how bitter it is.
I know a guy that finished all seasons of Supernatural. He loves the show for real. Iβm surprised I donβt, cos we normally have a similar taste in movies. As for not watching as many movies as you used to, I totally relate. I havenβt been able to finish an entire movie by myself since I came home(been a week now). Iβm either too busy or too tired to do it.
Ah I thought Alcohol is sweet. Why do people like it to the point of addiction if itβs bitter? Doesnβt make sense.
From my observations, I think that those times when we invest our entire time watching movie and series... there was nothing like tangible responsibility we had back then. But as things began to change and we begin to grow, we drop things that's not relevant and beneficial to our lifestyle.
You obviously trapped me π
Yeah I think that's just it. Just seriously I don't know how some of my friends balance their life watching movie series and their responsibility. They do it to, or maybe the level of priority I gave to watching movies has gone drastically low that it's now if complete no interest to me.
From the young committed movie watcher to a serious and highly motivated adult, that's just the step in the right direction.
Normally as we grow and mature, things that interest us in the past as a child should change or we're not really maturing.
I'm happy you're growing the way you like, and on the right path of life. Kudos to u.
Exactly as you put in..
This somehow sounds like a title to me...
I see! Growth is indeed kicking. I am also glad I am going what I want and setting towards my goals. I hope God's grace takes me far in life..
It will. God's grace usually bless hardwork
I am a twin and for some reason, my twin brother loves watching movies. Me on the other hand use 3 to 4 days to watch a 2 hour movie. I can only finish a movie in a da if itβs less than 2 hours. Even at that I have to skip the boring parts till I can finish.
Just recently I tried watching a series I thought was nice(Tyler perrys sistas), I started with it and couldnβt finish. I managed to finish the season one but later on stopped cause I thought it was a waste of time to watch it when I got to season 2π, oh wait I got bored rather.
I wanted to change since we are on a long vac but instead of watching movies I prefer reading articles here on hive and trying to help me familiarise with hive since am a newbie. Even at that I believe if I was not on hive I would have found it very difficult to watch movies .
Sleep is very important; for that i think you should update the 4 hours to 6 hours it will help you a lot. You wouldnβt wanna fall sick because your body needs you to rest.
Bro, we use to be movie watchers but right now life doesn't afford us to be that way. Imagine spending all that time on a movie when you haven't made money. I'll be sad after watching a comedy for hours bro.
Lol.... Exactly I can relate. Especially when the comedy relates to your broke situation. π π
Looool my guy...It wont be funny at all broππ
I love the fact that you were able to stay without having to watch movies.
I also like the fact that you started doing stuffs like waking up without an alarm.
Making me to understand consistency.
Thanks.. Consistency is one of the toughest things... it is not easy for me as well
I can agreed with this, as you grow older we have more responsibilities.. and we have much on our shoulder.
Tho, I still love movies, In fact, I am a movie addict. When I had exam, I kinda stopped, but now, I am back to being a movie addict. Even tho I am have upcoming exams. Might share some of your tips.
π you have 1% interest in what you are studying? Wow. I never thought of that.
This is nice tho. Thanks for sharing.
lately, I have been going through a very tough schedule! Maintaining it is being difficult all alone. But you just brought back so many memories of my past. And I am now just imagining the facts and all the times that I have spend watching series and movies in the past. It was as if I was addicted to series and anime's. Those were the time. No worries just enjoy the series and not worry about anything else.
While I as well have not been watching any sort of series lately. That's because I have a very bad habit of completing a series no matter what! In the last six months I probably watched one series and I became so much addicted to it that I was literally sleep watching this series. The usual scenario of a TV Series, they end at a point where you are bound to watch the next episode lol. Although, this event sort of brought back memories of the past and I literally enjoyed it!
Winchester brothers were a gem. I still can watch the series from the beginning and not get bored at all. So there's that as well. But I would definitely stay away from series nowadays. As I am certain, I can not resist myself from watching till the end of that series lol.
The reason why I love series is the thrill it gives, the suspense at the ending and the fact I can keep seeing my favourite characters. That's why I watched series more than the way I watch normal movies.
It's also more addictive which is a downside of it..
Now... I have changed totally... I sleep off when I put a simple 2 hr movie in my front.. I think that's when my brain would know it need sleep..
I see you too is part of the family. The series is a great series. When they started the movie I was not yet a teenager (a kid) and anytime I watch that movie, I was always scared in the night because my brain starts thinking of ghosts and demons.
Thinking of the movie alone brings memories. It is my childhood movie.
Growing up is the new boring these days . We tend to effortlessly let go of stuff we enjoy doing during our younger years when we are getting older. Iβm a music fan , I enjoy listening to music a whole lot . I just wonder if that hobby wonβt go extinct as I grow older. I actually doubt that though.
To me, i think it's the less time we have as adults that makes us stop doing what we loved doing when we were much younger, also, a lot of responsibilities creeps in, not that you don't still have the inner desire to continue your movie binging, maturity just makes you do what ought to do now.
