Can Hive become your job? [ENG/ESP]

This post (What Hive Isn't...) got me thinking if it would be possible to make blogging on Hive a job. Of course this would depend on the country in which one lives. So for this example I'm going to use the prices in my country to find out if you can cover at least the basic expenses with Hive.

Ok, so let's start by calculating the monthly expenses. In my city you can rent a small house or an apartment with $400 or $500 in a area that is far from the center of the city. From there, the water bill would be around $20 dollars, and the electricity bill would also be around $20 dollars. The internet service is around $50 and the cellphone service is around $17 - $20 with taxes. If you have a car you would have to pay around $100 for gas per month, and let's say you spend $200 on food. This gives us a total of $860 per month, but let's round it up to $900.

Expenses
Amount
Rent$450
Water$20
Electricity$20
Internet$50
Mobile$20
Gas$100
Food$200
Total$860

Now, let’s say we post every day, that would mean that we would need each post to have a value of $120, to avoid powering down, since we would only use HBD to cover all expenses. It would only be $60 if we also used our HP to break even.

In conclusion, I think that there are already some people in Hive who do earn that in their posts, so it seems that it can be considered as a job, or at least as a pretty good extra income depending on your country and city.

What do you think? Do you think you could pay all your expenses if you just dedicate yourself to blogging on Hive?

Back when I used to work doing journalism, an article was $12, an editorial was $120, and I'd do 5-6 articles a day, and 2 or 3 editorials a week. Granted I was in University at the time, but that was a manageable circumstance.

There's so much more to HIVE beyond "writing articles". There's curation, which if you're good enough at it (and have some HIVE Power behind you) would generate additional "income".

For me, I prefer to use HIVE as a medium to engage with other people and develop relationships with those who have similar interests.

For developers, there's also the HIVE development fund, and I would hazard a guess that there's a fair few people potentially making a living from that. Additionally, there are the sys / dev ops type people who run the witnesses, who may also making a living from maintaining that infrastructure.

Oooh you right, I forgot about that and also the HBD savings, that I read somewhere that there was an account with 1 million HBD savings, and the witnesses.

I'm not sure if that account still has 1 million HBD in savings, but because it is the blockchain it easy to check. :)

Lol, only those big fishes can earn a lot here and probably make a living. Especially since they are always upvoted by their fellow whales. So if you're chummy with some and contribute much on Hive then you'll definitely get their upvotes.

For us who aren't friends with any whales we just rely on the many curators of the site. Curie, OCD, etc. Even then, the upvote value are not enough to make a living out of posting here. Just enough as a side hustle.

Yayyy we have a new goal, find a whale and be their friends!! 😂😂

But for real, maybe that is the secret to find friends or communities to support you

😂 If we make real online whale friends then that's great indeed.
