6 Years Of Splinterlands and Many More To Come
This is my story of 6 yes ALL 6 years of being with Splinterlands from Alpha to today. It will highlight some of my most pivotal moments and also go over what I feel the future of Splinterlands has over the next 6 years.
Advice To Beginners
If you're going to jump in on this game I would highly recommend doing one of two things. Take $50 -$100 like you would normally invest into any other game and either rent out cards with some renting of SPS so you can win some battles and start building your own deck. Or buy up some really inexpensive Chaos packs and open some of those up and build your deck that way. Either way is going to give you a decent deck which should start earning you some rewards.
Continue to stack those rewards as often as possible. I know it might not seem like too much each day but in a months time you're going to see some big time results in your deck, what you've learned and most likely your rewards!
How I Discovered Splinterlands
Crypto was still fresh in my mind at that time. Being that I started mining Bitcoin in 2011 just 7 years later I stumbled on one of the first ever crypto style games that actually looked like it might become something. It was your classic card and leveling up game which many of us know an love. But now it was in crypto form and in my opinion one of the best blockchains around Hive.
Wax was still just a baby and didn't really have anything going for it at the time. However hive was something new a way to take an age old method of writing content and earning from it!
Splinterlands brought all of that together by being a game to be played and a social media style platform to share battles, strats and other content with other players who love the game as well.
The Stacks
I nearly maxed out my Alpha deck it was still very new to me back in that day so maxing out Alpha wasn't crazy important to me. However when Beta rolled around I just felt that was the time for me to get serious in the game and buy in. And boy did I ever by maxing out a number of Beta decks.
From there I started stacking cards, playing battles daily.
My Core Goals Today
My biggest goal right now is to hit 1 million SPS staked and I have to say I'm not all that far from it now and it's actually coming faster then I would have thought. After that 1 million SPS staked depending on the price I may just continue to stack or I might burn some or sell some we will have to see when that time comes later this year.
Outside of that I also have a goal to hit Champs again and hold in it for at least one season. In fact just last season I was able to brush my way into champs which is honestly something I never thought I would see again.
Accomplishments
For myself the biggest accomplishments that stick out to me for Splinterlands are the following.
Designing My Own Beta Card
Yep, as part of the kick starter I was able to build my own Beta summoner card the water splinter and I'm going to be honest with you it's still one of my favorite cards to play! The gold foil version of this card was worth around $15,000 in the last bull run
Reaching Champs
Yes, there was a time for about 2 years straight where I hit camps and just stayed there. It's been a LONG time but I was able to hit it again last season which was a major win in my book.
More Interaction With Community
Guilds is a great place to start in building community and having a team which you count on each other to show up and put in the effort. But with Splintertalk.io and of course discord and the town halls being able to interact more with everyone has been a huge win IMO.
Splinterlands in 6 years
I do believe Splinterlands is going to have a kind of rough rough ahead of it for the next year maybe two. However I do believe by that point the ecosystem would have grown by a lot with other games supporting each other. Less SPS to go around which should drive up prices and land becoming a real part of the game.
For now I believe stacking and building like I did in Alpha and Beta days is the right move but of course that's my own opinion and you'll need to make your own choices.
Splinterlands In 6 years to me looks like a solid card based game with newer animation, skills and more manual card play or at least another option outside of the automated battle system. There's a lot that can be done in 6 years time as has been clearly proven here so far in the last 6 years.
