Good day, Splinterlands! It's time again for Splinterlands' SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge! SPIRIT HOARDER. For this post, I would like to share one of my battles using one of the Legendary Cards from Neutral element. Spirit Hoarder is one of support cards that has Triage ability. And since this card is from Neutral element, it can work well with other elements as well. It has low Speed and HP but if used correctly, this one can contribute a lot in your battles. How did I won using this card? Let's take a look at it.

Here is a quick rundown of Spirit Hoarder stats.

Spirit Hoarder
Edition: CHAOS LEGION
Rarity: LEGENDARY
Element: NEUTRAL
Attack: MAGIC
Abilities: TRIAGE AT LVL 1, DISPEL AT LVL 2, BLIND AT LVL 3

Lore
When the Chaos Legion opened their portals to begin the invasion of Praetoria, the great vortexes tugged at the edges of time and space, drawing in matter from other realms. These portals were so powerful that other beings were dragged through against their will, snatched from their own worlds. And so it was that the Spirit Hoarder found itself walking the lands of Praetoria. No one truly knows where it originated from, but the consensus remains the same: They wish the Spirit Hoarder would return and no longer blight the Splinterlands with its wicked presence.

Battle Configuration

For this fight, the Modern Format ruleset is Explosive Weaponry (All Monsters have the Blast ability.) and Keep Your Distance (Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles.). The maximum amount of mana that can be used is 26. Fire, Element and Death are the only elements that can be used, but since Spirit Hoarder is from Neutral element, we can still use this monster.

Here is my lineup in this battle. I used Kelya Frendul as my summoner to provide additional armor to shield my monsters from Blast effect. My tank here is Djinn Oshannus, since I melee monsters are not allowed. It has Void ability which will lessen the magic damage received from the enemy. My monster in the second position is a ranged attack monster, Kulu Swimhunter. I thought I need a monster with a balance of attack and health in the second position. My monster in the third position is Merdaali Guardian with its Tank Heal ability. It will focus on healing Djinn Oshannus in this battle. Spirit Hoarder is in the fourth position. Since one of the rulesets will give Blast ability to all monsters, it is better to use a monster with Triage ability and Spirit Hoarder is one of those monsters. My monster in the fifth position is another monster with Triage ability, Angelic Madarin. This card has more HP than Spirit Hoarder, so it was better to use this as shield from backline attacks. Lastly, my card in the sixth position is Chaos Agent with Dodge ability.

The enemy also used almost the same lineup as mine, however, its Angelic Mandarin has no Triage ability at Level 3. As you can see, in Round 2, Spirit Hoarder was able to heal damage dealt to Kulu Swimhunter due to Blast effect. Luckily, the enemy has no monster with Snipe or Opportunity ability.

Even though Spirit Hoarder was not dealing any damage to enemy Djinn Oshannus, its Triage ability was a huge help to maintain Kulu Swimhunter's health. And in turn, Kulu Swimhunter was contributing to the overall damage from my lineup.

This back and forth pattern of receiving damage and being healed by Spirit Hoarder and Angelic Mandarin kept on running while Djinn Oshannus and Kulu Swimhunter are doing the most part of damaging the opponent. Here in Round 6, enemy River Nymph and Merdaali Guardian were already defeated because of the Blast effect.

With no more Tank Heal on the enemy side, it became easier to defeat Djinn Oshannus. And even though Angelic Mandarin has a little bit high HP, the enemy has no more means of dealing damage to my lineup. And in Round 8, enemy Spirit Hoarder and the battle was ended. Here is the full replay in Splinterlands.

Did your strategy work? What will you try differently next time?

Yes, my strategy worked flawlessly, possibly because the enemy lacked a monster with the Sniper or Opportunity ability. If that is the case, my strategy may have a difficult time working. But in the end, my lineup won thanks to the combined efforts of Spirit Hoarder and Angelic Mandarin. Do I like SPIRIT HOARDER? Absolutely! This card is still a legendary card, and in the right circumstances, it can be extremely useful in battle. In this battle, Spirit Hoarder and Angelic Madarin collaborated to keep Kulu Swimhunter alive and add more damage to the enemy. Maybe next time I'll use a monster with the Taunt ability and put it in the back, like Mycelic Slipspawn from the Earth element or Wave Brood from the Water element.
