Splinterlands Battle: Quora Towershead in Ranked Battle!

Good day, everyone! How are your recent ranked battles going? Good? Bad? Meh? Have you read the most recent Splinterlands Townhall Summary? If not, check Splinterlands' post here - Splinterlands Town Hall Summary - February 27th, 2023! There have been several changes in Splinterlands in the last few weeks that have brought both happiness and sadness to most of us. One of the changes that I really liked was that Gladius Cards can now be used in Ranked battles, as opposed to the previous version, where these cards could only be used in Brawl battles. I was also able to use my Level 2 Quora Towershead in Ranked Battles for the first time. Let's take a look!

Here is a quick rundown of Quora Towershead and also the summoner that made this possible, Helios Matriarch.

Element: Earth
Rarity: Epic
Attack: Magic/Melee
Abilities:
Bloodlust: Every time this Monster defeats an opponent, it gets +1 to all stats (in the Reverse Speed ruleset, -1 to Speed).
Heal: Restores a portion of the Monster's health each round.
Immunity: This monster is immune to negative status effects.
Dispel: When this monster hits an enemy, it clears all buffs and positive status effects on that enemy.
Element: Dragon
Rarity: Rare
Attack: Summoner
Abilities: All friendly Monsters have +1 Speed.
Allows the use of one additional Gladiator card in battle.

I was fortunate enough to receive 6bcx Gold Foil Helios Matriarch as part of last season's rewards along with other soul bound cards. I combined these cards right away to get a Level 4 Helios Matriarch. Despite the fact that this is a Soul Bound card, I am pleased to have received a Dragon Element, which means I can now use Gladius Cards from other elements.

Let's Battle!

For this fight, the Modern Format ruleset is Equal Opportunity (All Monsters have the Opportunity ability.) and Unprotected (Monsters do not have any armor and do not get armor from Abilities or Summoner Buffs.). The maximum amount of mana that can be used is 42. Dragon and Earth are the only elements that can be used, making them ideal for my Quora Towershead and Helios Matriarch!

These two rule sets were ideal for my Quora Towershead scenario. Quora Towershead has a Magic attack, which allows it to attack from afar. Quora can use these two attacks even if it is not in the first position because the Opportunity ability allows monsters with Melee attacks to attack from any position.

In Round 1, Quora Towershead dealt 4 damage to enemy Mycelic Slipspawn. Quora is the major damage contributor from my line up together with Grund. These two can easily defeat Mycelic Slipspawn that has Taunt ability.

In Round 2, Quora Towershead was able to defeat two opponents, Khmer Princess and Elven Mystic. This gave Quora Towershead two +1 to all stats in a single round.

Even though the enemy Unicord Mustang has Void ability, it does not prevented Quora Towershead's Melee attack, defeating it in Round 3.

And in Round 4, Quora Towershead ended the battle by defeating enemy Goblin Psychic.

Quora Towershead has 16 Health, 6 Magic Damage, 6 Melee Damage, 8 Speed, and 6 Melee Attacks remaining after this battle. Quora Towershead's Bloodlust ability paired with Heal is one of its amazing features. For each kill, Bloodlust will gain one more point to its HP, increasing the amount that it will heal by 1/3 of its maximum HP. My Earth Element soul-bound summoner Lobb Lowland is only at Level 1 with 3bcx right now. Before it can summon my Level 2 Quora Towershead, I still need 2bcx. And I am hoping to get more summoners on my next rewards.
