Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge: Lost Magic!
Hello, everyone! It's time for another Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge from Splinterlands! For this post, we will talk about the Lost Magic Ruleset, which prevents monsters with magic attacks from being used in battle. You can use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks. Or you can use Headwinds and Return fire to counter ranged attacks. For this post, I used a strategy similar to using a monster with the demoralize ability and also used Thorn's ability. Let's take a closer look.

Magic units may not be used in battle. Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks. Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks. Units with 2 types of attack (which include magic) cannot be used. |
For this battle, here is the ruleset and mana cap to be considered: Here we have only one ruleset, which is "Lost Magic: Monsters with Magic Attack may not be used in battles." The mana cap is 18, and the active elements are Fire, Life, and Dragon. The mana cap is really low, and using a monster with Demoralize may backfire on me. Currently, I only have Disintegrator in my deck, and that costs 7 mana already. With that said, here is my line-up for this battle.
Summoner: Camila Sungazer - This card only costs 3 mana and it has the same ability with Demoralize. It will make all enemy melee attack monsters have -1 melee attack.
Tank: Djinn Chwala - I initially thought of using a monster with Shield ability. And I have Antoid Platoon with a mana cost of 4 to do that. However, I decided to use Chwala because of its Thorns ability.
Support 1: Venari Crystalsmith - Together with Dragon element, I used Life mainly because of the Tank Heal ability of Venari Crystalsmith. It will support Djinn Chwala, if ever it took damage from the enemy.
Support 2: Halfling-Alchemist - With its Halving ability, the goal is to further decrease the attack power of the enemy so that it will deal minimum damage to Djinn Chwala and will be damaged by Thorns at the same time.
Filler units: These monsters are Soul Fiend and Chaos Agent. These will prevent backdoor damage to my support units. Also, Chaos Agent has Evade ability and will be useful against melee and ranged attack.
The Strategy: To summarize, my strategy in this battle is to reduce the melee attack power of the opponent using Camila Sungazer and will use Djinn Chwala as my main tank. Venari Crystalsmith with support Djinn Chwala's HP regen while Halfling Alchemist will further reduce the enemy attack power using its Halving ability. In this manner, Djinn Chwala will receive minimal damage and will be healed back by Venari Cyrstalsmith.
The enemy used also used Djinn Chwala and will be healed by its Summoner which is Byzantine Kitty. The enemy also has additional damage dealers and these are Lensmaster and Naga Assassin.
In Round 1, my strategy worked perfectly. Luckily, my Halfling Alchemist did not miss and was able to reduce the attack power of enemy Djinn Chwala and became 1 Melee Attack power only.
In Round 2, the difference in attack power between two Djinn Chwala can be seen and the overall damage dealt by the enemy units were not sufficient to defeat my Djinn Chwala.
In Round 3, enemy Djinn Chwala was defeated and this will be the deciding factor of the battle. The remaining enemy monster units are Soul Fiend, Lensmaster and Naga Assassin which have 1 attack power only.
In Round 5, I still have all my monster units and the enemy monster units were already wiped out. And this made me the winner in this battle.
Here is the Battle Replay from Splinterlands.
Good thing that the enemy has no monster with Snipe ability or did not use Halfing Alchemist. I might lose due to fatigue if that happened.
