Splinterlands BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge: Fire & Regret!
Good day, everyone! Lester here! It's time again for another battle challenge from Splinterlands. This time, the battle challenge is Fire & Regret Ruleset. If you would also like to participate, please make sure to check their post here - BATTLE MAGE SECRETS Weekly Challenge! For this battle challenge, I would like to share one of my recent brawl battles with Fire & Regret ruleset. If this piques your interest, please continue reading this post.
Ruleset: Fire & Regret
Description: All units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.
- Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
- Ranged attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
- The Amplify ability increases damage.
Battle Configuration
For this battle, aside from Fire & Regret, the other rulesets are "Are You Not Entertained?: One additional Gladiator card may be used in battles." and "Little League: Only Monsters & Summoners that cost 4 Mana or less may be used in battles.". The maximum amount of mana that can be used is 43 which is quite normal. And the available elements to be used are Fire, Life and Death. I chose to use this battle for this challenge because if even though all monsters will have the Return Fire ability, you can still use Ranged Attack monsters. Below is the lineup that I used in this battle.
Position/Role | Card | Description |
---|---|---|
Summoner | Tarsa | Tarsa will give +1 HP and Melee attack and it will boost my gladiator's attack power as well as Xenith Monk's HP. |
Pos 1 | Xenith Monk | Xenith Monk has Heal ability at level 4 and suited to play for Position 1. If we consider Tarsa's +1 HP and +1 Melee attack buff, I considered Xenith Monk as the perfect tank. |
Pos 2 | Krash Wanderford | Its +1 Speed buff was a huge help in this line up. May Orella Abadon can have the advantage to defeat first he enemy and activated its Bloodlust. |
Pos 3 | Orella Abadon | This was my main attacker in this line up and hoping that its Bloodlust will be triggered multiple times. I think this was a good choice since most monsters that costs 4 mana or less has low HP to begin with. |
Pos 4 | Doctor Blight | I figured that the opponent will also use Xenith Monk and to counter the Heal ability, I need Doctor Blight's Affliction ability. |
Pos 5 | Spirit Hoarder | One of the reasons why I used this card is to heal Scavo Firebolt when it received damage from Return Fire. |
Pos 6 | Scavo Firebolt | I used this card because of its high output damage as a 4-mana card. Even though it will receive damage from Return Fire, I hoped that Spirit Hoarder will be able to heal it. |
The opponent used General Sloan as summoner and has one ranged attack monster which was Venari Marksrat. I think the strategy here is for Venari Marksrat to die first to active its Martyr ability and buff Celestial Harpy and Stitch Leech. The opponent also used a level 4 Xenith Monk and Time Mage with Slow ability. The Slow ability will cancel out my Swiftness ability.
Round 1 ended favoring my line up. Orella Abadon was able to defeat enemy Celestial Harpy and activated its Bloodlust ability. Scavo Firebolt was damaged by Return Fire and Spirit Hoarder was not able to heal it because it prioritized healing Orella Abadon who was damaged by Celestial Harpy.
In Round 2, enemy Xenith Monk received additional damage from Doctor Blight's Poison and was killed. Orella Abadon managed to kill Venari Marksrat and this buffed Stitch Leech.
In Round 3, my power output led by Orella Abadon's attack. My Xenith Monk was defeated by its too late for the enemy to make a come back. I this made me the winner of this brawl match. Here is the full replay in Splinterlands.
In my opinion, Fire & Regret ruleset will give you a rough idea on what the enemy will use. It will be very rare for an opponent to use ranged attack monsters if they already know that all monsters have the Return Fire ability. But I guess, it will still be fun to battle if the ruleset has Fire & Regret and only Ranged Attack Monsters can be used. 😁
