Can anyone resist the charming rhythm and the magnificent good vibes of the Quo? Whoever says they can't get their feet moving and are incapable of enjoying a song like this is just not into rock n' roll, plain and simple. Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt had already been rocking for a good handful of years when John Fogerty opened their eyes by recording this song to open their 75' album of the same name. Only he, one of the best American composers of all time, could sign a piece with such a hook with his characteristic simplicity and eternal smile.
Only two years later, and in the midst of the punk boom, the Quo decided to give the song their inseparable boogie rhythm and adopt it as an anthem to rock the world over. At least that's what the song says, with that contagious “I like it, I like it, I like it...” that is impossible to stop humming.
To the beat of the piano, the pair of guitarists attacked the riff inviting us to dance and kept on going on with the magical “formula-Quo” for three and a bit more minutes in an exhausting and tiring display of rhythm and vitality. Now they have dared to record it again on their most recent cover album, “Riffs”, and more than twenty-five years later it maintains its tremendous charge of fun and efficiency. Here we go...!
Thanks for reading my people and may we continue with many more legendary rock songs.
