Words reverberating all day long in my head
Staying in the boarding house all through my secondary school days was quite a task as we had to cope with the troubles of the lecturers during the school hours and then our seniors after school hours, hence, getting to SSS3 which was the highest class in secondary school made us see ourselves as gods.
We just had the teachers to worry about during school hours and then dodge our way through everything else while also exercising seniority to our junior ones in many ways (fetching water for us, flogging them and so on)
Fast forward to when it was time for our graduation, our principal took the microphone and ended his speech with a statement that keeps ringing in my head and I'll say it remains my greatest life lesson even though it was passed down to me verbally; my principal said and I quote...
"Greatest 0'17 graduands!! Most times while in school, we keep dreaming big thinking of how beautiful our homes will be after we have studied our dream course and bagged our degree but let me tell you the reality, life is not always like that.... I wish you well".
He dropped the microphone but do you know the funny thing?
We were filled with joy and everyone was still busy celebrating in one way or another that we failed to understand the weight of the words that have been passed down to us..... We never thought it meant anything worth holding dear.
I was able to grasp everything because my principal spoke just immediately after my speech so I was near the podium at that point in time.
The small me 😂
These great words kept ringing in my head and I was scared asking myself many rhetorical questions......
What's really in this outside world?
Is it as difficult as he just portrayed it?
Is it more than what I've suffered for the six years I've spent in this school?
Little did I know that the answers will come looking for me even when I didn't need one.
My classmates and I applied for our dream courses and just few made it...
A lot of persons didn't get admitted and had to wait for the next year.
A lot of persons even after waiting for that one year couldn't get into their dream courses and had to enter into another course.
The words of my principal was already playing out and I began to see exactly what he meant.
Entering the University, I knew it would be tasking, but then, I was limiting it to the mental stress that comes with reading alone unknown to me that where the problem lies was the financial demands.
I had the dreams of living comfortably, requesting for money from my parents and always getting a response.. .. indeed, life is not always that way.
You've got to struggle your way in; you've got to prove your worth at all times because life rarely offers you what you need not to talk of offering you the things you want.

It is true that those things words turned out to be true, but then, I don't think I could ever stop dreaming big.... those dreams; those hope; they're what makes life worth living,
So even though life sometimes feels like it's not going your way, always keep dreaming; never stop dreaming and keep pushing till your dreams are actualised.

Life keeps throwing things at us despite we having our dreams and aspirations. Life struggles to direct the ship of our lives, we must grab and direct the steering
That's it ... At all times, we should be at that wheel taking life to where we want and not the other way round
Life indeed isn’t always as we daydream it to be. There are a lot of things we are yet to experience in life but the best can do for ourselves is to stay strong and dedicated to our course.
That's it... Focus and dedication is the solution
Thanks a lot

Those words are deep indeed. Life will never be easy, every step of the way they are challenges, we just need to keep adapting and getting better, never stop dreaming big.
Also, that small you is not small oo. Very big man already.
Indeed life throws a lot of punches at us but as always we will absorb them and get stronger.
The small me 😂
Ahh, then you're a very big man then.
