The Life Cycle - Opportunities

"In this life you come and you go", Ardee sings, so also, In this life opportunities come and opportunities go.

That is the comforting thing about opportunities, regardless of the great opportunities you've missed in your life, many are still up for grabs.

In that same vein, regardless of the wonderful opportunities we've grabbed in the past, greater ones lie ahead of us waiting for grabs too.

The topic for today actually sends cold chills down my spine .... We all could attest to how bad it is when you miss great opportunities..... It's kinda painful more than the hundreds we grabbed.

Let's get into it already..

A Great Opportunity Lost

It still looks very fresh in my mind like it's just yesterday but it's been 6years already.
It happened when I just finished my secondary school education and was waiting for my admission into the university to continue my education.

I was in my mum's shop that very good afternoon when two guys wearing a polo written Ethereum on it just approached me, I guess they were marketers.

They told me they brought goodnews to me and I was very keen to know what they wanted from a young guy like me then.

They told me they came to tell me about Ethereum, asked me if I have heard of Bitcoin and I told them yes but then it was just from magazines.
They told me that Ethereum is just like bitcoin and told me everything good about it, they did their very best convincing me that it was a great avenue to invest and that I would love it.

You will be wondering how I saw this as a great miss when I might not have had the money for Ethereum investment then since I was so young but that is what made it a great miss because the money was there.
They preached the goodnews of Ethereum to me but all I could see were people after my little money to scam me.

In the end, I told them I will think about it just for them to leave me when I know I wasn't going to think an inch about it.

They collected my number and called me days after days... It was just as if the angel of God wanted to make me a whale but I was not interested 😂

At 2017, the price of Ethereum then was $100 and Naira-Dollar exchange then was #300/1$, so basically, 1ETH was sold for #30000( thirty thousand Naira only).

Today, the price of Ethereum even in the midst of the Crypto dip is still $1, 658 which is equivalent to #1,241,842 ( one million, two hundred and forty-one thousand, eight hundred and forty-two Naira only).

Jeezzz, thinking about this alone sends tears down but well, that's bygone.

A Great Opportunity Grabbed

This isn't the greatest opportunity I've ever grabbed though but I can't exhaust all of them.... So I'll be sharing just the recent one.

So it happened that in my school now, to a very great extent, I am popular and then I am friends with most persons.
It was time for elections and as usual my faculty needed someone to represent them in the School Union level.
I was approached by my friends and many others to go and get the form as they were very certain I will win if I contest.

I had double mind because I am not that political and also I was scared of loosing also.
I later considered the offer and picked up form, did campaign and went for interview which I passed (Of course, my friends were always with me for every step I took and it was very helpful)

The election came and as the Lord may have it, I won.

I started the effective representation and took it upon myself to see that they never lacked whatever they were meant to receive.

I am still serving but I am now very glad I entered the position because I have been exposed to not just the way the school runs their activities but beyond that, I have been privileged to visit many presidential and senatorial candidates in my state, Enugu State, Nigeria.I also visited the Governor of the state once.

I must tell you the exposure is something that I will forever remain grateful that I took.

I have entered many offices and gotten many contacts that I am sure would never have gotten if not for the virtue of the position I am holding.

I'm of the opinion that once we are alive, opportunities will keep coming, so the greatest prayer should be for God to give us good health and long life because opportunities are bound to come.

Many will say luck is opportunity that meets preparation and it's very very true....
Our challenge isn't the opportunity coming but then it lies on capitalising on the opportunity and making good use of it when it finally comes.
