The little brave turtle and the cats

I have photographed many beautiful and particularly strange creatures in our garden this year, but I decided the first post in this community to introduce the newest member of our improvised 'zoo' in the garden. Because this post will perhaps best show my attitude towards nature and its creatures. And it will show you that there is nothing difficult or scary about posting in this community. 😄

So, a while ago I told you about the other inhabitants of our yard, besides the three cats - it's a cute hedgehog and a lot of cute toads.
But we recently found someone else there too.

It's this sweet guy here.

Neither the hedgehog, which we meet rarely and only at night - near the bowls for food of the cats 😄, nor this turtle have a name yet.

But I call it 'brave little turtle'. 🐢💚

IMG_20220814_142851~2.jpg

Most of the times I've shot it up close, and maybe that's why it looks big. But this is not true. Although it is heavy (I lifted it once), it is small. And if not a baby, then it is a child right now.

And I really see it as a little kid. Pretty brave for its age.

If it weren't for that, I wouldn't be able to take these photos.

You see, this was its 'deepest' hiding from me 😄. But that was just at the very beginning.

IMG_20220817_185321~2.jpg

It never tried to hide after that.

And to convince you of this, I will show the following pictures: 😻

I was really scared how the cats would behave in the presence of the little turtle.

But this unexpected first encounter, which happened in my presence, went so unexpectedly well that I even forgot to take pictures.

IMG_20220814_142945~2.jpg

But I still managed to capture the fact that the turtle did not get scared and did not hide.

Blacky sniffed it, got to know it, and backed away. It was clearly inedible. But it's also not playable.

I am amazed at how so different animals respect each other in such a small space as this enclosed garden.

IMG_20220817_184628~2.jpg

Our three fur boys, for example, do not pay much attention to the hedgehog and let it eat from their food.

IMG_20220817_184632~2.jpg

I think they are just afraid of it. And how not?
He is scary and menacing with all those pointed spines.

This was the second meeting - with Assencho, the All-Seeing Eye. It was also interesting to observe.
And it also ended in a surprisingly good way.
Only Shisho, the biggest freak, remains. Of course, he is unpredictable, as I have told you before, but I still have hope.
Besides, see what composure this little one is keeping here.

Do you know how much I wanted to pet it? But how do you pet a turtle? I asked myself the same question with the hedgehog and the toads, remember? 😆 Still, I stroked one of its front legs. That's what I managed to do. 🥰

I actually don't even know what it is eating. I understand that in the garden it always finds something to eat, I even once saw that it does not stop eating. 🤭 But I tried to find information on the Internet about whether it drinks water because I was trying to provide it with a bowl of water in the backyard, but it did not show any interest. 🤔🙄
I don't know anything about turtles.
