The abandoned school building

Every time I come across some settlement, I start making comparisons. Unconsciously.

Don't we all do it, trying to fit everything we see to what we have already seen, already experienced, already known by us?

IMG_20221019_203957.jpg

I make a comparison with my most familiar settlement - the one from my childhood years, where I spent all my summer vacations.

IMG_20221019_204050.jpg

A lot has changed since then there, for sure. And keeps changing.

I haven't been there in years, but the last time I was there, I did a full inspection of all my familiar things and places, even the unfamiliar ones, to find out what has changed since I haven't visited often.

IMG_20221019_204026.jpg

So many buildings are closed and abandoned. Buildings that once functioned in one form or another and were full of life.
The gas station, the disco, the bakery, the hospital...

IMG_20221019_204228.jpg

But the school and kindergarten are functioning. Renovated. With full strength.

So when I see a school like the one I'm showing you here, I feel sad and start asking myself a lot of questions. Why is this school closed? Why is the building left to decay on its own?

IMG_20221019_204152.jpg

It was once a beautiful building. It shows in the design. It looks very old, but of very good brick construction (of the type of construction and architecture that I have shown you many times here before - some of the few well built buildings in this country ever. At least it seems so to me.)

IMG_20221019_204228.jpg

It takes a lot of patience, even effort, to bring a building to this state. It seems as though, improbably, this was done on purpose.

IMG_20221019_204258.jpg

A school that is not being used and is falling apart.

IMG_20221019_204506.jpg

You know, I'm not here to talk about politics. And I don't encourage anyone to do it. We have to keep our health somehow, after all.

IMG_20221019_204449.jpg

Sometimes I think I have attained the wisdom of the observer who can observe things neutrally from the side, but my boyfriend would tell you that is not true.

IMG_20221019_204401.jpg

I'm a pessimist, or naysayer (according to some), who often won't be able to see the positive in a sight like this - an abandoned school building (and haven't I shown you others before? Well, they were even usable, albeit in a similar state.)

IMG_20221019_204427.jpg

IMG_20221019_204319.jpg

But who could anyway? 🤔

Falling apart, but still, look at the colors! So rich. Probably there will be something beautiful on that place, one day ;)

So many things in the past have changed now, it seems that you really miss your memories in the village where you spent your childhood back then, but what can be done, as the times progress everything changes, we can only reminisce about the past and can't repeat it again,

Beautiful picture

I miss the things that once worked. Of course, everything changes and thanks to 'progress' nothing can stay as it was before. But I rather think that there is a regression here. That's what worries me. Either there is no development or there is regression. Which somehow does not connect with normal human logic for the world and things in general...

Yes, that's right, I think it all depends on how we respond to it, the most important thing is that we should be grateful that we can still live until now and have gone through various unique things, the spirit of ma'am, I will always be near you😅

Perhaps the cause of fall of this school was due to poor management. Before a certain school is establish, it has tons of paper works, legal papers, and hard work to build it. But looking at this closed and abandoned school surely gives you unpleasant feeling. Memories will stay as it is, forever.

This school seems to have been in operation for a long time. But I guess that over time the number of children who could be educated here has decreased. I know that in my country there are such requirements - there must be a certain number of children for a school to function. Otherwise, the salaries of the teachers and the maintenance of the building are not justified. And the Ministry of Education and municipalities do not have much money for education anyway. This is the saddest thing: firstly, the population is decreasing and there are not enough children, secondly, there is not enough money for education...

I was wondering where were these pictures taken - certainly Europe rather than the US or other continents - I am living in Luxembourg myself, I imagine this place is somewhere in the region ?

Ha ha, are you kidding? 😄 I have never seen such buildings in Luxemburg. Or around.
This is located in Bulgaria, the poorest country in EU.

Not in Luxembourg but there are pretty dreary sights in certain poorer parts of Wallony - Belgium and even in a few spots in Germany (but mostly Eastern Germany, true)

Hello dear friend @soulsdetour good day
What beautiful shots, I love their bright colors, seeing them invite reflection
When I see facilities like this in this state, I can't help but think of the people who don't have a home to live in, it's just that you can't maintain these types of buildings with these people in mind. This thought is not political, I lived on the streets in my adolescence, and it is the worst thing that can happen to you
I appreciate that you let us know these beautiful images

OMG, not having a roof over your head is my worst nightmare! It hasn't happened to me in such a brutal way in life as it has happened to you, but I have one unfulfilled dream that will probably remain unfulfilled - to have my own home. As trivial as it sounds, home is one of the most important things in life. Just like the food. Therefore, I am also not indifferent when I see buildings like this.

Even in a state of decay, the architecture matches the nature around it. The colors pop and even the peeling paint mimics the flowers around it. Whatever happened to cause the people to abandon the settlement can only be truthfully told by those that were last there. It might be interesting to hear their story 🤔 I enjoyed reading this post and the photos are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

The abandoned building matches the abandoned and unmaintained surroundings. Or is it something else - the two things, one built by human hands and the other, a work of nature, have tried to adapt to each other because they have no other choice. Nature will soon be forced to swallow the building anyway. I see no other development and no other way out. That's usually how things go in this country.
The entire settlement is not abandoned. Just the school. And several other buildings in this settlement. In this country, abandoned buildings are a common sight. Until someone begins to think of the reasons for this situation. Then it gets sad.
Thank you! 😊
