Having a good strategy and a good defense is usually an excellent choice for battles in splinterlands, but sometimes the good old attack can be your best option and in this post I will talk about Mordeus who has an overwhelming amount of attack and will make your opponents tremble.

Who is Mordeus?

Mordeus is a card that recently arrived in splinterlands via the Riftwatchers edition, so you might not know it yet. Mordeus belongs to the fire deck and is a legendary card so it won't be very easy or cheap to get him and for that you will have 2 options that I will mention shortly.

First, to get more information about Mordeus you will need to go to the Marketplace to find the card and for that you just need to filter by: Edition - Riftwatchers / Rarity - Legendary / Element - Fire / Role - Monsters. After doing this, only 1 card will appear which is Mordeus and you will click on it to have more information that are 5: Cards, For Sale, For Rent, Stats and Lore.

In the cards section you will find how many Mordeus cards you have whether rented or bought and also their level. In this part you will also have the option to sell, rent or transfer the card and you will also have the option to increase the level of your Mordeus card by combining it with other Mordeus cards.

In the For Sale part you will find other players selling Mordeus cards, currently you can buy it for $9.84 and you can pay in DEC or credits.

In the For Rent part you will find other players renting Mordeus cards, their price varies a lot depending on availability and level but you can rent a Mordeus level 1 for 2~5 DEC, remembering that at the end of the season rental prices usually are bigger.

In the Stats part you will have access to the main information about Mordeus, that is, its usefulness in battles such as basic statistics and abilities.

In terms of basic stats like attack, speed and health you can see in the image above that Mordeus' health and speed are very low so he is not the type of card that will survive long in battle if he is the target of attacks and also it will not be the type of card that will attack first unless there is a Reverse Speed rule in the battle, but on the other hand its attack is extremely powerful reaching 7 attack at maximum level and this is capable of destroying most of the cards. Splinterlands and that's not all because in addition to having a destructive attack he also has great abilities that will make him even more powerful in battle.

In total, Mordeus has 3 abilities that are unlocked at different levels, his abilities are Opportunity, Stun and Piercing.

Enable Level 1 (Opportunity)

Mordeus has the ability Opportunity since level 1 and this will be its most important ability because it makes it attack the opponent's card with the lowest life and as it has a destroying attack so it will be practically a death sentence for your opponent's card.

Enable Level 3 (Stun)

Mordeus starts to have the ability Stun from level 3 and with this ability he will have the chance to leave his target stunned and unable to perform any movement until the round is over.

Enable Level 4 (Piercing)

Mordeus starts to have the Piercing ability only at his maximum level and with this ability he will be able to inflict the excess damage caused on a card's shield directly on its life, so this ability will make Mordeus' attack even more powerful because not even even the opponent's card shield will be able to block your attack.

You have no doubt that Mordeus is one of the best cards when it comes to a direct and offensive attack and despite having his weaknesses such as health and attack, you can have a good strategy so that he is not an easy target for your opponent and there are also rules that will make it easier for him like Equalize and Reverse Speed.

Remembering that to have Mordeus you have 2 options, the first is buying him on the marketplace for $9.84 as I said before and the second is trying your luck buying Riftwatchers packs, each pack costs 5$ in SPS + 1 Voucher and you will get 5 random cards when open.

As Mordeus is a legendary card so your chances of getting him in packs are low so if your intention is to increase his level your best option would be to buy it in the marketplace since in packs it will depend on your luck, but if you buy one very large amount of packs so it won't be a problem to get cards from Mordeus and if you can also get the packs cheaper buying at Hive-Engine since they trade for a lower price there.

Mordeus is a devil monarch that dwells in the lower planes, where it rules Conflagis and its inhabitants of demons and other fiends. Scholars believe Mordeus feeds on anger and can influence anyone or anyplace where anger is intense. Those who draw his attention become mad with rage. Buildings tremble and fall to ruin. Fire erupts from the land.

Once Mordeus has consumed enough anger, the devil monarch can give it physical form—or even appear himself—wreaking havoc and killing anyone nearby.

Deep within the mountains of Conflagis, where flames and smoke broiled from bottomless fissures, Mordeus sat on a throne of stone and bone, staring with orange eyes. The devil monarch did not see its fiery empire, but rather a settlement where two men in a house argued with one another. A cruel smile flashed across Mordeus’s face. Its eyes burned brighter.

One man pointed an axe at the other, shouting in anger. The second man shook his fist, yelling over the first. What they said was not important; what was important was their fury.

The eyes of the axe-wielding man flashed a fiery orange. As Mordeus bellowed a deep laugh, so too did the man. He swung the axe. Blood splattered his face and his clothes. The second man hit the floor with a wet thud.

The man with the axe shouldered open the door and stumbled out of the house and into the street, where a crowd had gathered. They stared at him with wide eyes. Blood dripped from the blade of his axe. Laughter contorted his body. Smoke and fire erupted and swirled around him. His flesh charred and cracked.

He lunged toward the crowd and swung his axe. Swung again. And again. Bodies fell. Still, he continued to laugh. The crowd screamed and scattered.

Guards rushed down the streets and let fly their arrows. Many found their mark, yet the man trudged on. His laugh became a scream. His flesh boiled and ran, and he dropped to his knees.

The town’s healer rushed from the temple. She spread her arms and cried out in prayer, begging the gods to heal the man and free him from possession.

The man stopped screaming. He grinned up at the healer and spoke in a voice that was not his own. “Foolish mortal. All of you! Let this be a lesson. Anger and rage corrupt, and I am the ultimate corrupter.”

The smoke and fire consumed the man until only a whirling inferno remained. From it rose Mordeus, the devil monarch, towering above the settlement.

The priest turned to run, but the flames engulfed her.

“Let rage consume all!” Mordeus cried, and all around him, the townsfolk turned on one another, fighting with swords and daggers, sticks and stones, fists and teeth.

In a flurry of smoke and ash, the devil monarch vanished, returning to its seat of power in the Conflagis, grinning as he watched them destroy themselves.
