TunnelBear: el héroe sin capa para Venezuela - Opinión [ESP-ENG]

Vivir en Venezuela es como un desafío de alta intensidad. Pudiera decir que también es como estar en un videojuego en el que, cierto villano de bigote, intenta destruirte. Nada anormal en un país en el que se ha impuesto esa marginalidad dictatorial que, desde luego, busca minimizar todos los puentes que vayan en contra de su putrefacto sistema. Por suerte, tenemos a la tecnología de nuestro lado, pues de otro modo, ya estuviéramos extintos, sin ánimos de exagerar.

Los recientes acontecimientos en mi país han originado una ola de represión y persecución nunca antes vista, incluso en el ámbito digital. Es por esto que la idea de las VPN ha sido como una luz al final de túnel para los venezolanos. Y en este artículo, te contaré cuál es el que me ha servido a mí.

Living in Venezuela is like a high intensity challenge. I could say that it is also like being in a video game in which a certain villain with a mustache tries to destroy you. Nothing abnormal in a country that has imposed that dictatorial marginality that, of course, seeks to minimize all bridges that go against its rotten system. Fortunately, we have technology on our side, otherwise we would already be extinct, without exaggerating.

The recent events in my country have originated a wave of repression and persecution never seen before, even in the digital field. This is why the idea of VPNs has been like a light at the end of the tunnel for Venezuelans. And in this article, I will tell you which one has worked for me.

Las VPN no son lo mío; no las solía usar porque la mayor parte de los servicios digitales que uso tienen permiso para operar en mi país. No obstante, la suspensión de la plataforma X y otras plataformas por parte de la dictadura han cambiado mucho las cosas. De hecho, esto abrió para mí un campo que antes reconocía: o sea, incluso para acceder a los servicios de membresía de YouTube es un auténtico calvario. Entonces, tuve que descargar una VPN para mi teléfono, la cual me permitió acceder a las apps censuradas en Venezuela.

Y aunque la VPN que descargué para mi smartphone me funcionó, todavía me quedaba otro dilema por resolver: una VPN para mi PC. Como todavía hay gente de buen corazón en el mundo tecnológico, me puse a indagar sobre el servicio de TunnelBear, el cual fue puesto gratuito para Venezuela ante el duro golpe de la censura en mi país.

VPNs are not my thing; I never used to use them because most of the digital services I use are allowed to operate in my country. However, the suspension of platform X and other platforms by the dictatorship has changed things a lot. In fact, this opened up a field for me that I previously recognized: that is, even to access YouTube membership services is a real ordeal. So, I had to download a VPN for my phone, which allowed me to access the censored apps in Venezuela.

And although the VPN I downloaded for my smartphone worked for me, I still had another dilemma to solve: a VPN for my PC. Lo primero que me gustó de TunnelBear es su amplio repertorio de servidores repartidos en un mapamundi, al cual podemos acceder con solo abrir nuestra cuenta. Como lo dije antes, el servicio es gratuito en Venezuela, aunque desconozco si existe una modalidad Free y Premium para otros países, o solo Premium. Nunca he utilizado otros servicios de VPN para PC, pero puedo decir con propiedad que TunnelBear es bastante práctico y sencillo.

Con tan solo deslizarte por el mapamundi y hacer clic en la región en la que desees conectarte, puedes disfrutar del servicio. El diseño del oso y los túneles me agradó mucho, aunque esto no tenga que ver con el funcionamiento de la VPN en sí. Gracias a TunnelBear puedo acceder a X y algunos otros servicios digitales en Youtube que, desde el teléfono, no son posibles de visitar.

The first thing I liked about TunnelBear is its wide repertoire of servers spread over a world map, which we can access just by opening our account. As I said before, the service is free in Venezuela, although I don't know if there is a Free and Premium mode for other countries, or only Premium. I have never used other VPN services for PCs, but I can say that TunnelBear is quite practical and simple.

By simply scrolling through the world map and clicking on the region you want to connect to, you can enjoy the service. I really liked the design of the bear and the tunnels, although this has nothing to do with how the VPN itself works. Thanks to TunnelBear I can access X and some other digital services on Youtube that, from the phone, are not possible to visit.

Aunque el servicio de TunnelBear es temporal para Venezuela, estoy pensando en adquirirlo una vez que este se venza. Me ha gustado mucho por su facilidad y la dinámica de servidores, la cual es bastante amplia. Como dije antes, no suelo usar VPN, pero la propia situación de mi país me obliga a hacerlo.

¿Cuál es mi recomendación si te encuentras en Venezuela y quieras usar VPN?

Usa los servicios que sean confiables y seguros, como el que acabo de describir en este post. Nunca descargues VPN de fuentes inseguras. TunnelBear es un servicio verificado y fiable, y puedes acceder a este desde su página oficial.

Al menos a mí me ha funcionado de maravilla.
