A coffee in honor of orchids [ENG-ESP]

Cateleya is a rather particular word. I didn't know it; it came to me in the most unexpected way possible. Very close to the Gym, where I usually train in the mornings, there is a sign with that name so difficult to pronounce. Around it, colorful orchids. It always caught my eye, but it wasn't until recently that I discovered that this cozy place behind the illuminated sign is a coffee shop. My brother looked just as surprised as I did when I told him to go for coffee at Cateleya. After training, a coffee is the best thing that can happen to you. So we wandered into this place of coffees and sweets... and this time I will tell you why it was worth a visit.

My favorite coffee shops are the ones that offer a symbolic atmosphere, that is, that try to create a harmonious experience with the coffee you drink. I call them themed coffee shops. Cateleya is a very harmonious place in this aspect. The name it has, according to what the barista told me, is in honor of orchids, especially the species that is very abundant during the month of May in Venezuela. Each decoration refers to these orchids. The lights and green surroundings form a rather curious mix inside this coffee shop. In fact, you can feel a bit of the tranquility of nature: the music they play is relaxing and has birds whistling... for some reason, it reminded me of the Venezuelan Amazons.

I didn't hesitate to photograph the place; the barista smilingly told me that the murals on the walls were drawn to create a sense of connection with nature and orchids. There is a space where there is a small swing to photograph the moment, which, I was told, is a favorite of visitors.

There is another space inside the coffee shop where you can find love cards and coffee portraits. I paid a lot of attention to the latter; I love it when the themes in a coffee shop are novel, with surprising and extraordinary touches. Among the cards I found attached to a heart, I really liked the one that read: "God Night Baby. Life is Wonderful." This phrase reminded me of what I usually say to myself before bed (😅). The barista commented to me that there are still more phrases to be added, to which I smilingly replied this:

“Add one that says: Coffee is living...”

After all, coffee and life are synonymous with feeling complete. The lady smiled with each of my eloquences. Good service is something wonderful that you also find in this coffee shop.

My brother ordered the coffees for me. He ordered two coffees with milk, without sugar, as we like to sweeten it according to our preferences. They were delicious: the coffee bean they used was Colombian. I could feel that distinctive, smooth bitterness, which immediately awakens your palate. My brother was as fascinated as I was, not only by the taste of the coffee with milk, but also by the place and the attention where we were drinking it.

For a simple coffee, they made a great effort to give it a good presentation. I kept looking at the orchids all the time. Undoubtedly, they are beautiful and somewhat strange flowers, especially because they are somewhat scarce in the place where I currently live.

Have you ever visited a coffee shop named after a flower?

Orchid and coffee is for me a very creative and unusual combination, especially because if you like to write or are looking for coffee in a relaxing place, you find a real treasure. I hope to visit Cateleya again very soon; for sure I will enjoy again a splendid occasion with good coffee in between.

Cateleya es una palabra bastante particular. No la conocía; llegó a mí de la manera más inesperada posible. Muy cerca del Gym, donde suelo entrenar por las mañanas, está un cartel con ese nombre tan difícil de pronunciar. Alrededor, orquídeas de colores. Siempre me llamó la atención, pero no fue hasta hace poco que descubrí que, ese lugar acogedor a la vista, detrás del cartel luminoso, es una cafetería. Mi hermano lució igual de sorprendido que yo cuando le dije para ir a tomar café en Cateleya. Después de entrenar, un café es lo mejor que te puede pasar. Así fue que nos adentramos en este sitio de cafés y dulces... y en esta ocasión les contaré por qué valió la pena visitarlo.

Mis cafeterías favoritas son las que ofrecen un ambiente simbólico, o sea, que intentan plasmar en ti una experiencia armónica junto al café que bebes. Yo les llamo cafeterías temáticas. Cateleya es un lugar bastante armónico en este aspecto. El nombre que tiene, según me contó la barista, es en honor a las orquídeas, sobre todo a la especie que es muy abundante durante el mes de mayo en Venezuela. Cada adorno hace referencia a estas orquídeas. Las luces y los entornos verdes forman una mezcla bastante curiosa dentro de esta cafetería. De hecho, puedes sentir un poco la tranquilidad de la naturaleza: la música que ponen es relajante y tiene silbido de pájaros... por alguna razón, me recordó a las amazonas de Venezuela.

No dudé en fotografiar el sitio; la barista me comentó con sonriente que los murales de las paredes fueron dibujados para crear una sensación de conexión con la naturaleza y las orquídeas. Hay un espacio donde hay un pequeño columpio para fotografiar el momento, el cual, según me contaron, es el favorito de los visitantes.

Hay otro espacio dentro de la cafetería donde puedes hallar tarjetas de amor y retratos de café. Puse mucha atención en estos últimos; me encanta que las temáticas dentro de una cafetería sean novedosas, con toques sorprendentes y extraordinarios. Entre las tarjetas que hallé pegadas a un corazón, me gustó mucho la que decía: "God Night Baby. Life is Wonderful." Esta frase me recordó a lo que usualmente digo para mí mismo antes de dormir (😅). La barista me comentó que todavía faltan más frases por añadir, a lo que respondí sonriente esto:

"Agrega una que diga: Café es vivir"...

Después de todo, café y vida son sinónimos de sentirse completo. La señorita sonrió con cada una de mis elocuencias. La buena atención es algo maravilloso que también encuentras en esta cafetería.

Mi hermano se encargó de pedir los cafés por mí. Pidió dos cafés con leche, sin azúcar, pues nos gusta endulzarlo según nuestras preferencias. Estaban deliciosos: el grano de café que utilizaron era colombiano. Pude sentir ese amargo distintivo y suave, que despierta de inmediato a tu paladar. Mi hermano quedó igual de fascinado que yo, no solo por el sabor del café con leche, sino que también por el lugar y la atención donde lo estábamos bebiendo.

Para ser un café sencillo, se esforzaron mucho por darle una buena presentación. No paré de ver las orquídeas en todo momento. Sin duda, son unas flores hermosas y un tanto extrañas, sobre todo porque son algo escasas en el lugar donde actualmente vivo.

Orquídea y café es para mí una combinación muy creativa e inusual, sobre todo porque si te gusta escribir o buscas tomar café en un sitio relajante, encuentras un auténtico tesoro. Espero volver a visitar Cateleya muy pronto; de seguro volveré a disfrutar de una ocasión espléndida con el buen café de por medio.
