Juanito [ENG-ESP]

Greetings animal lovers! Today I'm here to talk a little bit about Juanito, my sister's peculiar pet, who as you can see in the pictures is a cute water turtle.

¡Saludos amantes de los animales! Hoy paso por aquí para hablar un poco de Juanito, la peculiar mascota de mi hermana, que como ven en las fotos es una simpática tortuga de agua.

This beautiful reptile has been with my sister for many years, I think he will soon turn 20, he was given to her by a friend when he was very small, he was only about 5 centimeters long and could fit in any container with water.

Este lindo reptil ya tiene muchos años con mi hermana, creo que pronto cumple 20, se lo regaló un amigo cuando era muy chiquito, apenas medía unos 5 centímetros y cabía en cualquier recipiente con agua.

The scientific name of its species is Trachemys scripta elegans, and it is also known as Florida Tortoise. Before meeting this turtle and seeing his development, I thought that they didn’t grow much, but it turns out that they do as long as they have ample space to live, Juanito currently measures about 20 centimeters.

El nombre científico de su especie es Trachemys scripta elegans, y también se le conoce como Galápago de Florida. Antes de conocer a esta tortuga y ver su desarrollo, yo pensaba que no crecían mucho, pero resulta que sí lo hacen siempre y cuando tengan un espacio amplio para vivir, actualmente Juanito mide unos 23 centímetros.

My sister has a water bowl for him, but he spends most of his time outside, walking around and sometimes getting into trouble 😆, he likes to hide under furniture, carpets and other places where he can cover himself. There where you see him so calm, he is quite tremendous! Even with cats he sometimes gets involved...

Mi hermana le tiene un recipiente con agua, pero él pasa la mayor parte del tiempo afuera, caminando por ahí y a veces metiéndose en problemas 😆, le gusta esconderse debajo de los muebles, las alfombras y otros lugares donde se pueda cubrir. Ahí donde lo ven tan tranquilo, ¡es bastante tremendo! Hasta con los gatos se mete a veces…
