Somethings I wish to know earlier π Sharing my account progress
(Picture from Canva)
I joined Hive almost 2 years (this May is my 2nd-year celebration) as a Splinterlands player. At the beginning, Hive is very challenging for me to understand, even until now. However, I can not deny that Hive is an excellent platform. That's why I'm more active on Hive recently and retreat from using other social media platforms like Facebook, ...
Then I started to introduce Hive to my friends.
And this post is for my friends in which I would love to share some practical experiences that can help them to grow faster π in Hive.
1. Create a Hive account
Of course, you need to have a Hive account to start Hive journey π
There are a lot of ways to create a Hive account. You just need to Google this phrase and you can see a lot of links.
If you don't mind, you can use my referral links to register
https://ecency.com/signup?referral=sodom-lv
2. Choose the right platform
There are a lot of Hive social media platforms in the below link. They're not all the platforms but the most common platforms at the moment.
https://hive.io/eco?t=social
It depends on your content to choose the right platform. If you do it, you can get more support from the platform and grow faster.
These are my recommendations
- For long-form posts, I use ecency.com (@ecency). With each activity on ecency, you can get the ecency points to promote or boost your post. Thanks @anjanida to share with me how to boost the post.
- For short form posts (like Twitter) , I use D.buzz (@dbuzz)
- For picture-oriented posts, I use https://www.liketu.org/ (@liketu)
- For videos, you can try 3Speak or 3Short but I don't use them because I'm not a video creator.
About the rest, you can discover them later, but you can try PeakD.
3. Choose the right community/ Put the right tags
Every community has different rules and topics.
For example, Splinterlands for Splintelands P2E game, Pinmapple for traveling, Hive learners for the tips in Hive, Foodies Bee Hive for foods...
You can go to this link https://ecency.com/communities and search if you are interested in any community then join it.
Choosing the right community/tags will help to share your content with people having the same interests then you will get more interaction with your posts.
I saw a lot of new people put the tags without any intention and finally they only got a few interactions with the post.
4. Engagement
a. Write a post about your interests
Firstly, you need to write a post to introduce yourself to the Hive community. Then you can think about any topic that you are interested in.
Or you can share short-form posts on D.Buzz. This is the easiest way.
I'm a Splinterlands player and I share my content about this game.
b. Give a comment
Sometimes, it has to write a post, then you can read the posts and write comments. If I want to support you, I need something from you to upvote like comments/replies or posts. Without it, I can not vote for you.
c. Build the connection
Like other social platforms, if you have bigger connections then you will receive more interaction.
I have my friend - @anjanida - always support my activities even we haven't seen each other in the real life.
d. Join some contests or activities
These some contests or activities in Hive and I often join the below activities
- Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun
- Guessing the Hive price and win the rewards with @phortunΒ΄s Monday tipping contest
- Guess the PolyCUB price and WIN with @spinvest-leo
- The Weekly BITCOIN Guessing Game with @spinvest
You don't need to be a crypto expert to join these guessing contests π - Running/Riding and use @strava2hive to share your running/riding activities on Hive automatically.

When I started to apply the above tips in my activities, I saw an positive trend of my account
This is the proof of my tips.
- It took me 20 months to get 240HP
- But I only need 2 months to increase from 240HP to 395HP - which is a 64% grow.
- I want to have more HP so I can support better my friends when they onboard Hive. My target is to reach 1200HP by end of 2023.
If I can do it then you can do it.
I wish you - my friends - to be successful on Hive.
That's all for now and have a nice weekend.
Great post! Thanks for sharing your valuable tips and experiences on Hive. It's inspiring to see your growth and how you've adapted to the platform. Keep up the good work, and good luck reaching your 1200HP goal by the end of 2023!
We have chosen this post to be curated by MCGI Cares Hive community. We are inviting you to join our community that study the words of God. We can also follow our official Youtube Channel. Keep doing the great job @sodom-lv β€οΈ
Thanks for your comment and your wish. I will try my best to reach this target to give a better hand to support my friends.
Thank you po :)
This is a great post, so helpful for newbies
I am blown away by how many front-ends there are. I knew there are a lot of communities, and that is great. Hive more and more became and becomes the public ledger for everyone to use. And that's great! And I love how active you are. What I like about @ecency boosts is that I can accumulate points and then boost other's posts. Even though I don't have much Hive Power myself, I can still make a difference using boost from time to time!
Not to forget what I'm able to do with !invest_vote for every comment I make thanks to @investinthefutur and @cervisia. And that, once again, is only a tiny fraction of what already exists out here. Your workout activity looks appealing as well. And I love that I don't need to do workouts for being active on Hive. ;-)
You're right.
That's why I always recommend the new joiners use @ecency when they join Hive then they can discover other frontends later.
A lot of communities are good but I also see several communities overlap with each other and create confusion for the newbie. I hope it can be more consolidated and not be so fragmented.
Yes, I know. Hive is like their own eco system, and that is hard to grasp if one only knows classic world wide web and social media. !invest_vote

Loved your post. I also started on splinterlands and am also branching out. Also met a friend and mentor that made life here much more fun. Also wrote a newbie guide on my alt account @terganftp yesterday.
Yours is much more concise and readable. I'm envious π
And more in depth tips on using tags. They elude me for the moment π’
