Iconic Places That Must Be Visited In Batam City
An industrial city with an ocean in it is an interesting city to visit. If you have a list of traveling to Indonesia, Batam City could be an interesting destination for you besides Bali, of course.
You can also visit Batam City from Singapore using a ferry because Batam City is the city in Indonesia that is closest to Singapore and Malaysia.
There are several iconic places in Batam City that you must visit if you visit this city. Among them are the BARELANG and MJA TOWER bridges.
These iconic places will offer us the experience of seeing beautiful views. A combination of city view and ocean view.
1. BARELANG BRIDGE
The iconic thing that can be relied upon in a city to attract the attention of tourists is one of the bridges. With the bridge, it can become the center of attention of many people and want to visit there. The BARELANG BRIDGE is an iconic bridge in Batam City.
The beauty of the BARELANG BRIDGE building itself is combined with the beauty of the surrounding ocean view.
BARELANG BRIDGE has 6 bridges in different locations. That's because BARELANG is an abbreviation of the union of several islands: batam; rempang: galang. The most popular bridge is bridge 1 named Tengku Fisabilillah which I am currently visiting.
For motorbike or car riders, you can park them in the DENDANG MELAYU area. If you are just passing by or stopping for a moment, you can stop on the left or right side of the bridge. But for mutual safety and traffic convenience, visitors should park their vehicles first.
After parking my car in the DENDANG MELAYU area, then I walked to the bridge area. I was so amazed to see this magnificent bridge. Moreover, the beautiful sky of Batam City makes the charm of BARELANG BRIDGE shine even more.
At the BARELANG BRIDGE location, there are many photographers who offer instant photo services. At an affordable price. Meanwhile, I just took photos with my cell phone because honestly, I don't like being in the frame of a place.
By the way, Hive Friends, people often say that BARELANG BRIDGE is similar to San Francisco's Golden Gate. In my opinion, this happens when the BARELANG BRIDGE is photographed from a distance and looks silhouetted. Only at first glance, they are similar because the two bridges have different types of colors and shapes on the two bridge pillars.
Still, the bridges are very impressive and iconic. So it doesn't feel right if you visit Batam City but haven't stopped at BARELANG BRIDGE.

2. MJA TOWER
MJA TOWER is not just a beautiful iconic place that attracts many tourists. This place is also included as a place of worship for Muslims. However, the tower itself is separate from the worship area so this place is open to the public.
MJA is an abbreviation of Jabal Arafah Mosque which is the name of the mosque. MJA TOWER is located in the area of the mosque. Non-Muslim tourists are required to wear modest clothing such as trousers covering the thighs.
location around MJA TOWER
MJA TOWER is in a strategic location in the Batam City shopping center. Apart from that, there are many hotels ranging from cheap to expensive around this iconic place, making it suitable for foreign tourists.
For entry tickets to MJA TOWER, we pay a ticket of $0.3 or IDR 5000. To be able to climb this tower, we go to the area next to the mosque, precisely at the location of the mosque garden. Later you will see lift access to the top of the tower.
From the lift, we go to the 3rd floor. This lift only goes to the 3rd floor of the tower building. Floor 3 is the main center of activity on this tower.
As soon as we get out of the elevator, we will be greeted by a glass building design and we can see a beautiful city view. Especially we can see the dome architecture of the MJA mosque.

The central area of MJA TOWER on the 3rd floor
The central area of MJA TOWER on the 3rd floor feels clean and tidy with an elegant design on the building pillars.
I feel comfortable being in this place. It's just that it feels hot because the sun is directly hitting the building with this glass material.
The evening view before sunset would be nice. Unfortunately, I went to MJA TOWER when the sun was hot above my head. Don't worry, it still didn't disappoint me.
the city view
It felt so amazing that I could see the tall buildings in Batam City. Batam city is a developed industrial city.
That is why the development of city development is growing rapidly. After the Covid19 pandemic, many tourist destination centers and properties were built. That's why we see many tall buildings. From a distance you can also see the ocean.
AT MJA TOWER there are also binoculars provided at the edge of the MJA TOWER building area. Equipped with a seat behind the binoculars so that we can be comfortable.
There is a stairs area to the 3rd floor. We can climb to the 4th floor of the tower using manual stairs. The wind felt strong when I arrived on the 4th floor. Please be careful for those who are afraid of heights when on the 4th floor.
Meanwhile, the top of the tower is the 5th floor. However, the stair access to the 5th floor was closed when I visited due to repairs.
the garden area
Apart from enjoying the city view from the top of the MJA TOWER, we can also sit around the garden area while enjoying snacks and drinks typical of Batam City.
In the MJA TOWER garden area, there is a fish pond. There are several tall date trees which make this place feel cool.
I sat in the “TEH TARIK” outlet area. A type of tea drink that is mixed with milk and the top looks frothy.
I didn't expect this drink in Batam City to taste better than the type of tea mixed with milk that was around me.
You have to try drinking teh Teh if you visit Batam City. Honestly, it turns out that teh Tarik in the MJA TOWER area is the tastiest if I compare it to several other teh Tarik outlets that I've tried in Batam City.
This is the end of my trip to the iconic places that must be visited in Batam City. I'm SOBAT KELANA. CHEERS!

People said that from Batam you can see the Singapore, are you?
We can see Singapore in right places. Usually from beach at Tanjung Pinggir Area and the hotel that I visited before (Batam View Beach Resort Hotel) but in some season, in cloudy day we can not see Singapore
